In this lesson we're going to start looking at the Command Centres. MYOB organises similar activities and parts of the software into groups and then provides you with separate interfaces for each of these groups. These interfaces are called Command Centres. You can access each Command Centre in one of two ways: by using the large buttons across the top here, or by using the Command Centre's Menu. Under each Command Centre's menu item you'll find the links that are contained in that Command Centre's Interface. So using the Menu you can go straight to a task instead of having to first select the Command Centre window and then click the task. Some people find this method to be very quick after they've become comfortable with where all the tasks are located. Notice also that the most commonly used items have keyboard shortcuts. Ctrl and 1 for the Accounts Command Centre, or Ctrl-G to go straight to the Record Journal Entry task. These can make things way faster. Instead of having to click the button Sales and then Receive Payments, you can just use Ctrl-B under Sales, and Receive Payments. As you can see, once you memorise these it can really speed up your work. Here's a funny thing, though. If we look at the Sales Command Centre we see Enter Sales here. This is a very common link and you'll probably use it a lot. This is an easy way to quickly record a sale and generate an invoice. Now let's look for it in the Menu. Look under Command Centres and Sales. Well, I can't find it. I can, however, find the Enter Invoices entry. Click that and lo and behold, it's the same thing. So, if you're trying to memorise the keyboard shortcuts, just keep that in mind. They may be very slightly different. Now, before we look at the individual Command Centres, let's move down to the bottom of this window and check out the buttons there. We have four buttons with a drop-down menu next to each one. These link to common tasks and they stay the same regardless of which Command Centre we're currently using. If we click one of these, say the To Do List, it opens up a window with a bunch of lists in it organised by tabs at the top. Now, I'll just drag this out of the way and let's see what's under the arrow here. We can see that the List here matches the tabs in the To Do List window. So, the drop-down is simply a quick way to go directly to the List you want, and the other three work in exactly the same way: Find Transactions, Reports, and Analysis. And that's it for this lesson.
