Now that our Payroll Summaries are finished the next thing to do is finally start the New Payroll Year. From the File Menu choose Start a New Year, and Start a New Payroll Year. Produce a Session Report if you like, and then we're prompted to make a backup. I'm not talking about backups anymore. I think I've done enough, so decide what you'd like to do and then click Continue. In the next Window the software reminds us of how important it is to have backups. MYOB will erase all Payroll History Records for the old year during this process. After we're suitably frightened, click Continue, and select the New Payroll Year. Once again, MYOB reminds us about backups, and I don't feel so bad now. Click Continue and we see one last warning about backup copies of our Company File. This is the last time I'm going to mention it. Make sure you have a backup, and click Start a New Payroll Year. With very little fanfare the process is finished. Now we just need to take care of some housekeeping. The first thing we need to do is see if we now have the latest Tax Tables. In Australia, Tax Laws usually change at the start of each Payroll Year. Find out whether this has happened for the current year and if it has, we need to obtain and load them. Early on in this course I showed you a way to check for Tax Table Updates. Here's another way. Go to the Help Menu and choose Check for Product Updates. We're taken to the MYOB Web site, and you'll probably need to Login so do that and check for the latest updates there. Following the instructions there to download the Tax Tables and then go to the Setup Menu and choose Load Payroll Tax Tables. Click the Load button, it'll process, and then we're done. The very last thing we need to do now is optimise the Company File and we covered this earlier. Go to the File Menu and choose Optimise Company File. If you need to, review the earlier lesson on Optimisation. And that's it. We now have a New Payroll Year.
