What we're going to concentrate on in this video series here is getting you ready for the Windows Server 2008 Server Administration MCITP. Now this looks a little weird up here, almost looks like a misprint. You notice we're going after the Server 2008 Server Administration MCITP Designation. Now the way you're going to get the MCITP Certification, or Designation, is by passing three exams. The first one is Exam 70-640 and this is an MCTS Exam, a Microsoft Certified Technology Specialist and this is on Windows Server 2008 Active Directory Configuration, or configuring Active Directory. Now there is a separate course for that that I did for VTC, you can go out to VTC and look that up and that will help you prepare for that 70-640 exam. Now the Exam 70-642 is what we're covering in this particular course and this, again, a TS, a Technology Specialist level exam and it's called Windows Server 2008 Network Infrastructure Configuring and Microsoft names these things a little bit funky, I call this Network Infrastructure Configuration. But in this particular Course I'm going to take you through the basics that you need to know for this exam. If you can understand the basics a lot of times you can step through some of the more difficult exams. Now you will hear me say from time to time, well actually you'll hear me say it a lot in this course, do some more reading, to out to TechNet, look at this resource, that resource; as I come across good resources and as I just remember some that I've seen and worked with myself I will include those in the Work Files folder and we'll talk about that as we go through the course. I'll mention the ones I've put in the Work Files folder as we come across them. So, this course will help get you ready for the 70-642 Exam. Now generally, once you've passed both of those then you're ready to prepare for the actual Windows Server 2008 Server Administrator Exam. Now the 640 and the 642, you need to take both of those first. The 646 is going to tend to roll all the technologies you learned into the other two into one single exam and test your knowledge of how different pieces and parts of each of those other technologies work together in the server administrator world, OK? Now, real quick and you're going to hear this again a couple more times, maybe a couple thousand more times in this video. I want you to understand that to pass the 70-642 Exam and the 640 and the 646 and achieve an MCITP is not a walk in the park, OK? These Exams will stretch you to your limit on understanding this technology. Now I don't want to scare you. If you will spend a fair amount of time getting hands-on experience with this stuff and if you will study, if you'll go through this video and read up on a few topics out on TechNet and if you'll spend some time maybe chasing down some other information out on Google, some White Papers and so forth, you'll do just fine on these exams. I'll also talk about practice exams in some other videos. A lot of tools are out there for you, but trust me, when you get this MCITP designation it will open doors for you. I'll just challenge you, go out to any of the jobsites on the Internet, look for administrator jobs, administration jobs and a lot of times you will see these certification. It'll either say it's required or they'll say it's not required but very helpful and what's going to happen, people with those certifications tend to get put at the top of the list by the Human Resources Department. So if you want to become an MCITP as a Server Administrator then these are the three exams you need and we're going to concentrate right here on 70-642 in this course. You will be able to find with VTC in the late fall of 2009, maybe early 2010. You'll also see a video series out there to help you prep for 70-646, so depending on when you're watching this that's kind of what the production schedule looks like right now, so just to let you anticipate that. So anyway, that's what we're concentrating on here is getting you ultimately, first of all past the 70-642, but ultimately want to get you to that MCITP.
