This is going to be a very brief public service announcement but very important; how to save your texture along with your model. It's a very important step because if you don't do it, your texture may not appear the next time you load your model. So you got to go to File and choose Save All. Now, mine just goes to that because I already did it. But when you choose Save All, you're given the option as to where to save your model. This will make sure the texture goes along for the ride. So I'm going to go to File and Close All just to show you. I'm going to go to File, Open and on my Desktop I have my Box Blue, which is what I named it and then there it is. Now, this is something else that I want to show you as well. This happens to a lot of people. They wonder, OK, this is great. I just opened the model I worked so hard on so where is it? How come I can't see the actual texture? Well, if you go to Render, it's there but when I go to Paint, why don't I see it? Well, I think it's a little weird myself and I wish that I didn't have to manually select it but you can go to the Items List here and find your object and here's the clue. Click on it one time and now we can see it. So this is, this is probably going to save me answering about 400 million emails because I'm sure people would send me emails and ask why can't I see my model in the Paint window and that is exactly why. You have to click on it first. So having said that, don't forget. When you first paint your textures, also do me one more favor. Save every five minutes. Modo, just like any other application, has the ability to crash when you least expect it so after spending eight, nine hours of painting the most perfect Godzilla in the history of the world it crashes on you, it's gone so go to File and then just choose Save every once in a while or even Save Incremental. This will give you the ability to do this automatically as you see there; Box Blue 0001 and five minutes later, Save Incremental 0002. This gives me the ability to go backwards at any time and still have access to it. So let's say you're on Godzilla 0025 and it crashes on you. Well, go back to 24 and you can resume from there. So every five, ten minutes please, please save your work. It's very important because once it's lost, it's gone. So to Save All, save your model and your texture, Save Incremental to save as you work and when you bring your model back into Paint, if you don't see it, go to Items, find your mesh, click on it and then you'll see the texture. Likewise, you can go to Render and see it there as well.
