Introduction / Input Devices
Subtitles of the Movie
Everybody's going to want to build models in their own way. It all depends on your preference. But I want to recommend to you some of the tools that I use to make my life a lot easier. I use a Wacom Tablet and this is what I have here, the Medium Intuos4 and this Stylus here to draw pretty much in Modo especially when I'm in Sculpt Mode. I can do all of the functions with just this tool here and in pretty much the whole tutorial I'm using this. As a matter of fact, I use it for every tutorial I do, whether it's a drawing program or not. So, the way this works is, you draw in this area here with this thing called a stylus. And let me see if I can get a better shot of it. Let's see here, let me go to Intuos, yep. Pretty much the same one. Thanks a lot guys. And, let's see if I can find a, here we go, let me go to Medium so you can see a better picture. So the way this works is I draw with this stylus and I use this part of the switch for my right click and I set this one for my left click. I can have all my functionality here. I can click on these little buttons and I can change how I work with the application. Let me go to my system Preferences very quickly to show you how I have it set up. Here is the Wacom Tablet control and I'll just wait for this to load. There we go and here is the Grip Pen and what I can do is click on these little buttons here to change which button I want each one of these little switches to do. So, this is Middle and that's Right and this is a regular click. So, you know, it's really cool to be able to set that up. It works on both Mac and PC and as you can see some of them are pretty pricey and some of them are less pricey, which brings me to the Bamboo line. Bamboo is 79 dollars, so if you want to give it a shot, try it. You know, I think you'll like it. It'll help you with the carpal tunnel. I don't have any problem at all, whereas I used to have a lot of pain in my wrist because I used a regular mouse, so I got rid of that. Although I do use this trackball right here. Sometimes I like to switch up. So this is one of the other kind of mice I would like to suggest. If you don't want to use a stylus, trackball is really cool because it doesn't have to move. The trackball is stationary whereas a regular mouse, of course, you have to move around. You just move this ball and this moves your cursor like this and you have your buttons here. So these are some of the things I like to suggest that you guys might want to use in your 3D and your everyday workflow. You can use both for your Microsoft Office, your Illustrator, Maya, Modo, no matter what. You can use either one of these devices to just go ahead and work as usual.
