What we're going to do now is create fur. Now we're not actually going to use the Paint Tab this time. We're not going to use the Hair Tools. We're going to go to our Lists and we're going to add a new layer that's going to turn this ball into something like the bottom of a bee. So you have this little furry thing with different colors. We're going to have stripes of color going down. So with my ball here, I'm in my Paint Tab, although I don't have to be. I can be in any one of these but of course it helps to be in the Paint Tab so you can see the effects of it or you can even be in the Render Tab; depends on what you want to do so if you want to be in the Render Tab, you can see the effects of it right away. But I'm going to go back to Paint. Now, I'm going to choose my base material and show you that there's nothing here. So I double click on it. This is just a regular old sphere. I'm going to go up here where it says Add Layer and I'm going to chose to make a new fur material. Right away we see that we have these little things sprouting out. These are the curves that make up the fur. So if I go to the Render Tab, you'll see that we have this furry ball now. It's kind of cool. So let's go ahead and talk about how we can manipulate this fur. Well, as you can see, we have a fur material now and now we have some properties that we can tweak to modify the fur. For example, you can modify the Render Density, the Random Seed, which gives it a more random effect to it. We can affect the Spacing and the Length. So if I want to make this longer, I can just increase this number or use the slider. Click and just hold it down and mov your mouse to the right. And now we've got longer fur here. Or you can go shorter. So I can just drag it and I can see a preview as I'm doing it in this window. So I'm going to go a little shorter and you can see the ball now. You can actually see the sphere showing up. So we want to have more fur there so I'm going to increase the length yet again because I want to be able to not see that. I can also affect the width and the taper and what I want to do at this point is actually work on the colors. So to do that what I'm going to do is I'm going to add another layer on top of the fur. So I'm going to right click on the fur and as you can see, I can delete it if I want to, I can copy this and I can even save a preset. But what I want to do is add another layer. So let's go ahead and add. Let's think here. I think I'll add a grid. And as I mentioned before, we're going to go for a bee so we have that little separation already. When you add a texture on top of your fur material, you'll notice that the texture has properties. So in this case we have a line color and we also have the filler color. So I'm going to change the filler color; make it yellow. And we have our bee. So let me zoom in on that. I hope you guys aren't afraid of bees. That was kind of abrupt. I just zoomed in like that. And this is what we have. We have all these little hairs on this bee. Let me zoom out. So once again of you have beeaphobia, sorry about that. And that's how easy it is to create fur material on an object. Don't forget; you can affect the length of the hair, the width, the height and you can even add layers and then interact with it by changing the colors. So just experiment and have some fun. Try to create things like maybe a tennis ball, which is going to be green and then think about how you can get the fur to the right length, the right color and so on.
