Keynote Basics / Rulers and Guides
Subtitles of the Movie
It's time to work with guides. We have a whole bunch of slides here, and we're going to work with guides. Now, in order to work with guides, we have to have our rulers present, which means we've to be up in the View menu and turn on the rulers. We can hide the rulers, or you can turn them on. Now that we have our rulers, and you noticed we just zoomed out, you can click on the ruler and drag out a guide. The guides will snap to objects. Go ahead and drag out guides on all four sides of this object. And you can use the guides in ways of creating a layout or isolating particular objects. And you see, it'll snap right into place when it hits the center. Let's go to the next slide. Let's go ahead and provide some guides for this photo. The zero point of your entire canvas is right smack in center. Go ahead and go to the next slide. I'll provide some guides for this graphic. Click and drag out. Click right on the ruler and drag out, click and drag out. You can see the zero-zero point. And you can get rid of guides by dragging them back into the ruler, just up here. If we click the Inspector, and choose the icon which has a ruler, you'll be able to control some of the options that are here. We could constrain proportions; we can move the graphic X and Y. Y is always downward, X is always across. And we can control the angle as well. And if we want to default this back to normal, we can zero out and hit enter. You could do 90 degrees, or perhaps we can change it back to zero. We can flip flop the graphics by clicking these arrows here. And we flip it left, or flip it horizontal or vertical. And we also have constrain proportions. And that means that the original width and height of your graphic or movie or what have you will always remain proportionate. ays remain proportionate.
