In this movie let's continue working with our installation. First thing I want you to do is go to localhost/XAMPP on your computer and make sure you get this successful information. It might as you what language you want to use first but then it should come up and tell you that you've successfully installed XAMPP, which includes the PHP, MySQL, Apache. You can look over here and get familiar with XAMPP with the Control Panel. You can look at the PHP info. You can look at phpMyAdmin. That'd be a great thing to look at. It tells you the server name. This is where we're going to use all of our database information. Later on you might go in there and see how you can look at the fields and the different variables within databases. It tells we're at the localhost server. Tells you our user name. Down here it tells me right now I don't have a password on this root. Definitely a good idea to do that at some point. So anyhow, take a look at XAMPP and some of the items in there. Once you know that's done well, I want you to go to localhost/and the name of the folder that we put Joomla! into. So I put my into Joomla! 1.5. Go there. It'll automatically pull up this installation/index.php and select the language you need. That's step one. I'm going to hit next. On this pre-installation box you want to look for anything marked with this red now. You want everything green and pretty up here and if it is, you're good to go. If not, you might need to go install something. Take a look here and see what you need to do and then you can come back and hit Check Again. Don't forget, if you have a problem, go to the joomla.org website. Look in the forum, search for the exact problem you're having. Most likely somebody else has had the same problem. Then go down here and look at your recommended settings. Right here I have one thing in red but that's because I have Display Errors on. No big deal to me; I don't mind that so I'm going to leave that there. Next here is our licensing agreement. You're more than welcome to go read that in detail but I'm going to skip right over it and hit Next. Next is our basic settings. MySQL is our database type. localhost is our server. Remember, we looked at that over here on phpMyAdmin. Then our user name, remember that was Root because we have not put a password on that. And it gives you the typical items over here; the database name is Joomla15. That's what we're going to call it, that 15, and let's go ahead and hit next. Now, if we want to do FTP configuration, we can do that here. I'm not going to worry about that right now so go ahead and hit Next and then this is going to be the name of our site. So I'm going to call it Joomla! Site just for something to do here and my e-mail. Put my e-mail in there. And my admin password. Now, I can install sample data if I want to here. I'm going to go ahead and do that. It's easier to work with Joomla! if you have some sample data to work with. And then I'm going to hit Next. Now, you'll notice right here it tells you remove the installation directory before you try to log in. So let's go into our hard drive here where we installed everything, scroll down to XAMPP, go into htdocs and in our Joomla! 1.5 Folder, see this installation directory? Delete it. That way you'll be able to use everything you need to and I'm going to go back down here. Now it tells me your administration login details are admin. So let's click our Admin Link here. See how it went to localhost/Joomla! 1.5 administrator. So this is where I'm going to log in and this basically, this log in here, the administration part is the back-end of my Joomla! site. Now, I can go here, open up a new tab and here's the front-end of my Joomla! site. This is on my local computer and then here is the back-end of my Joomla! site. So we're good to go locally. We've got it installed. We've got our databases ready to go, we know how to check XAMPP, our phpMyAdmin and you can see that information. So let's continue on learning a little bit more.
