In this movie let's take a look at some example sites. There's no better way to get some great website ideas than looking at other people's sites. You want to look at all the usage elements they have on t here, what modules are they using. That way you can get a good plan in place for your website. So what we want to do is go to Joomla!'s website and I simply clicked on the About Joomla! area. What I'm going to do is scroll down here and you can see right in here some different sites. If you know what type of site you're making, take a look at these categories and look at the ones that are going to match kind of your subject. If we want to look at social networking, we can open that one up. Social networking is people online, getting together, sharing ideas, making connections and this is an example of one. You'll notice they've got some menus up here. They've got advertisements. Take a look where people place advertisements. They're typically at the top, on the right-hand column and then typically at the bottom also is where people put advertisements. The top-left corner is typically saved for their logo because a logo is typically always a link back to the home of that site. Let's go back here and take a look at another one; IHOP, a popular eating place uses Joomla!. Right here you can see as we go across those menus, they kind of light up, do that little flash. They've got movement here and everywhere. There's not ads on this page because it's strictly for the company but they've got all kinds of information that we can take a look at. Some flat pictures; you don't want movement all over the place. But you can read more about that site. Again, a Joomla! site. Let's take a look at this one. Here's another Joomla! site. Again, they've got menus. This one has a nice little search box up here. They've got more links. This is where they put their latest websites. And as you scroll down you can see typically a lot of places put another area of links at the bottom, so if somebody's already at the bottom because they've read all your information, then they don't have to go back up to the top to get somewhere. They can do it right here. Another website that uses Joomla! is this website. It's another company. Again, they have links, different places, contact information, a lot of data. I can click around, find some information here. There's those PDF, print, e-mail. They've changed those icons just a tad bit. But as you scroll down, you get the same basic information. Just another good Joomla! site. Here's where they sold some ad space. So what I want you to do is just simply either go to Joomla! and check these out or just do a quick search online for Joomla! Example Sites. You're going to find numerous hits. You can take a look at what other people have. Then I strongly encourage you to create a file or just get out a note pad and write down the specific items you want to see that will end up being on your site. It's a great idea to make a plan ahead of time before you just dive into Joomla!. That way, if you look around and you get these great ideas, then you'll be able to put those into your site later on. So, you know, grab that note pad, open up an online file and just search the Internet right now, just take a few minutes to jot down some ideas and start putting a plan together for the Joomla! site that you want to create.
