In this movie let's talk about getting Joomla!; downloading it to our computer. When you download something, basically you're taking the files from one computer and place them on another. To download the Joomla! files, just go to joomla.org and then if you look to the right-hand side, you'll see the link to get the download. So click that and what it does, it takes us to the area where we can get the package. You'll se we're on version 1.5. If you look on my website, the administrative side back-end, you can see right here that version is also up at the top. What you're going to do is download the zip file and then you unzip it on your computer. You want to make sure you have the program to unzip those files on your computer. Zipped files are just simply compressed files. So what you need to do is decompress those. You can also just download the upgrade package. You might have the older version of Joomla! right here, the 1.0. So maybe you just need the upgrades. Right here there's a download link to the other packages, like the TAR files, et cetera. Basically these are going to be for other platforms, whatever you need there. So right here are some different packages. Let's go back. When you do download this, it's a pretty small file. It's less than six megabytes, which shouldn't take too long so you won't have to wait very long to get that. Notice again you can get the older version if you need to for some reason, if this 1.5 version isn't working with what you've got you could try that just in case. The big thing I want to point out here is all this information down here at the bottom. The installation manual, they've got a Quick Start Guide, they have the forum also if you run into issues. Definitely at the very least read that Quick Start Guide. The Quick Start Guide will just prepare you so you're ready for the installment. You don't want to run into something that you aren't aware of and don't know what to do right in the middle of it so just read that Quick Start Guide. It doesn't take very long. You can also read the instructions about the upgrading if you need to do that instead. You can also change the language, you can look more into the extensions and also look more into the Joomla! code. But like I said, at the very least read that Quick Start Guide because it'll help you as we install this in case you run into any issues, plus it tells you what to expect as you install Joomla!.
