In this tutorial we're going to finish up our second look at Prototype and Script.aculo.us by taking a look at the resources and tools that are available for these JavaScript Libraries. Now, of course, with Prototype here we do have the API documentation available to us, both online and offline, as well as the tips and tutorials. There's also a blog that's available that the Prototype team updates. Now, there are a number of different categories related with this blog as you can see over here on the right-hand side. You can also subscribe to the blog. In addition to the blog, there's discussion elements and over here on Discuss it's telling you how you can get help with your code by joining the Prototype and Script.aculo.us mailing list, as well as joining in the IRC channel for Prototype. There's also this Prototype mailing list for you to get involved with if you're interested in contributing to the development of Prototype. Also there are networking components here with LinkedIn and Facebook. So if you want to join either one of those groups, it's showing you that they do exist. Now, the Need Help with Code?, these are links that are also found over on Script.aculo.us's website and in addition to these resources that we've seen, we have a couple tools that we're going to take a look at. First is Aptana. The Aptana Studio is going to give us a lot of really good tools that we can use to develop our web applications. I'm going to go ahead and go into Aptana Studio and we'll see that this is a free, standalone application that gives us support for AJAX libraries, JavaScript, DOM, CSS, PHP, Ruby on Rails and more. So if I scroll down, we'll see we have an overview as well as AJAX libraries and by clicking on that tab you'll see that we have support for some of the leading AJAX libraries. So we have support for jQuery, Prototype and Script.aculo.us, Dojo, Ext, YUI, MochiKit, MooTools, Spry and Flex. There's also support for more libraries as well, but these are the ones that would interest us because these are the ones we're talking about a little bit more in depth. So if you're interested, you might want to go ahead and check out Aptana Studio, especially if you're interested in checking out a new IDE for your development needs. Now, the next tool is actually an extension for Dreamweaver. So here at Extend.US you see that there is an extension for Adobe Dreamweaver for Prototype. So I'm going to go ahead and click on Prototype and it takes me to the Prototype products and I'll just click on the extension for Dreamweaver and you'll see that it's going to give us some good code hints for writing our Prototype inside of Dreamweaver. So if you are using Dreamweaver in your production cycle, you might want to take a look at what this extension has to offer. If you do take a look at this, please let the development team know what you think and what may need to be improved so that we can continue to see development on this extension. Because Prototype support inside of Dreamweaver is a really good thing.
