Subtitles of the Movie

In this movie we take a brief review of the things that we learned how to do through this Prototype and Script.aculo.us project. First of all, we learned how to make selections and how to do event handling. So we learned that we can make selections based on a single item, such as this art box, or we could make selections based on collections, such as the nav header and the A. Now, by using the double dollar sign we were able to use our Cascading Style Sheet selectors to talk about a relationship for the targeted items. So here in this case it's all A tags inside of the nav header. Then we have our event handling with the invoke, which also then does the event handling to observe the click event and in that event, to trigger a function. We also see that we have the Event.Observe here targeting the window and listening for a load to trigger those items. We also learned how to stop the default behavior of events such as clicking on A tags or whatnot. You also see that we have Cascading Style Sheet control over whether something is showing up or not. We learned how to set up our AJAX requests using the get method here and then what to do with our information once it's returned using transport and evaling it. Then we took at our animations and how we can read our Cascading Style Sheet information using get style and the animation effects talks about our different options and then the ability to control the playback in terms of speed, as well as sequence and what to do after a sequence has played. We also took a look at how we could iterate through a collection such as in this now live JSON item, cycling through that and adding on to each item certain information here that built our gallery contents. And then we took a look at adding in some more animation effects, looking at how to build ratio calculator to control the display of our image once it gets pulled in and then setting up our zoom slider so that we have a slider that controls the zooming in and zooming out of the image. The update image was controlling the zoom in and zoom out. The draggable was controlling whether or not we click and drag the picture around inside of the picture display for panning purposes. Now, we did learn quite a bit about Prototype and Script.aculo.us applying it here and hopefully you had a good time looking at all of this code and hopefully you'll be inspired to build some really robust applications using these JavaScript libraries.
