Brief Review / Introduction
Subtitles of the Movie
In this tutorial we begin our brief review over some of the most foundational concepts that our JavaScript Libraries depend upon. Now, mastery of these topics is not going to be necessary but it is certainly going to give you a great advantage. If you're familiar with these topics, perhaps having worked with them in some fashion for a while, then you'll definitely have an edge when it comes to implementing these. If you've never hand-coded an HTML and Cascading Style Sheet-based web page, you might want to take the time to watch some of the other fine tutorials available to you through VTC on those subjects. You may also feel comfortable proceeding with this video tutorial series. Just keep in mind that this series will assume that you are familiar with these technologies. In fact, the goal of this section is to briefly review some of the most important concepts and definitions that these JavaScript Libraries rely on. So what we're talking about is we're talking about these elements. Now, your JavaScript Libraries are going to be built with good design and developmental practices already in play. So what we're going to look at is two of the main topics whenever it comes to these principles, which happen to be modularity and progressive enhancement. Then we're going to take a look at some basic HTML. Here we're looking at the conceptual nature of it and what we're going to be targeting when we're working with our JavaScript Libraries. Next, we turn our attention to Cascading Style Sheets and understanding what the purpose of CSS is and then lastly we're going to talk about JavaScript and how we can use JavaScript to manipulate HTML and Cascading Style Sheets and we will go further into our discussion with JavaScript talking about some of the more advanced topics that these JavaScript Libraries rely upon. Now, for those of you who are already familiar with most of this material, you may wish to skip ahead. However I recommend that you go ahead and view these tutorials because you never know. You might pick up some new information or as I always say, it's always nice to hear someone saying something you already know. So that's the general overview here of what we're going to be doing in our brief review.
