Welcome to the About the Author video where I get to talk about everybody's favorite subject, me. Well, at least it's my favorite subject. My name is Greg Dickinson and I'm a CCNA and a CNE. For those of you that may have not been around technology for a while, a CNE is a Certified Novel Engineer and I've had the CNE Certification for, wow I've had a CNE Certification for fourteen years now. I'm, I'm a lot older than I'd like to admit. In fact as I record this video, it's just been my 36th Birthday here, just a few days ago and with that 36th Birthday, it's come to realization that I have been playing with computers and dealing with computers for 26 years. That is a long time to play with technology. Now obviously when I was 10 years old, I wasn't troubleshooting networks or building networks, but you know, my dad got me the Apple 2E with the, the blazing double floppy drive and you know, the, this the maximum amount of RAM you could put in the thing, I think it was 128k at the time. And from there it just sparked an interest in computers and it carried me through High School and into a pretty good job. You know, I was a nerd in High School before it was cool to be a nerd in High School and it just kind of sparked a lifelong love technology and of learning. And really it's been my experience that people that do well in this field, that's the kind of outlook you have to have. You have look at this as kind of a, a joy and as a passion you know. There are times where I'll go to work and I'll sit in front of a computer, in front of the network for ten hours and I'll come home and go out to my lab out in the garage and spend another three or four hours and my wife comes out here and says, when are you going to come to bed? Why are you playing with these computers, you're, you do this all day at work, why are you doing this here at home? And it's just because I really love doing this kind of stuff. I love getting in here and figuring stuff out and breaking it. I really like doing things that people say are impossible. I mean, you can't do that, you can't make an asterisk PBX to a Cisco Call Manager Voice Over IP system. Well, well you can, you got to really hack on it with a, with a large machete and a small hammer to get it to do it, but you can make it do it. So at any rate, as you can tell, I love to play with technology, I love to help others out anyway I can and if I can ever help you out, feel free to email me at my personal little vanity domain there, GregD@hyperpower.com. I won't promise that I'll respond that day or the next day but you will eventually get a response from me whenever my schedule does allow. You can also find me on some of the Cisco Certification Communities. I, I lurk more than I post in there, because there's just so many people in there that know so much more about Cisco than I do and I'm, I'm still learning so much stuff especially on the Voice side. But if I can ever be of any help to you feel free to email me. I hope you've had as much fun going through this course as I've had making it.
