Hello. My name is Jason Maranto and it's been my pleasure to be your guide for this video training series. I really hope you enjoyed yourself and learned a lot. Now I'd like to tell you a little bit about myself. First off I'm an artist and a teacher. I've been making my living as an artist for over 13 years, however, I got started about 10 years ago with computers working at the University of South Florida in their computer labs. I had my first experience teaching when the lab that I was in got a copy of Adobe Photoshop 5 and a scanner. Since I was the only artist there I was designated as the person who was going to teach the doctors and professors how to use the scanner and Photoshop so they could do presentations and applications for grants. As a result of that first experience I became an Adobe Certified Photoshop expert, which doesn't mean all that much these days, what with everybody knowing Photoshop now, but at the time it was kind of a big deal. From there I was hooked. My next job was as a graphic designer at a silkscreen company doing T-shirt design using Adobe Illustrator. After that it's been one computer art job after another doing just about everything from comic books to CD cover illustrations to web sites, business cards and brochures for local businesses. During the course of all that time I've had to wear a lot of different hats but that's just the nature of being a freelance artist. Learning new skills is at the heart of being able to stay competitive in today's world and because of that I've made a point of always staying on top of the latest technology. During all this time I've also had the opportunity to teach many artists. Ultimately we always end up in the realm of digital art because that's where the majority of freelance art jobs are these days. I'm a really big fan of free stuff what with being a starving artist and all and combined with the fact that it's free with its amazing functionality and you have a recipe for me falling in love with Google SketchUp. When VTC gave me the opportunity to teach a Google SketchUp course I jumped at the opportunity. And now when I teach artists and I want to introduce them to SketchUp I can simply point them in the direction of VTC's Web site. I would like to say that one of the great things about Google SketchUp is the online community and I consider myself to be part of that. I hope that you also will consider yourself to be part of that. Please feel free to e-mail me at jason underscore maranto at hotmail.com with any questions. I'll try my best to answer you or at least point you in the direction of where you can get the answers. And if you enjoyed this course then please, by all means, contact VTC and let them know that you'd like to see more training from me. Thank you and good luck.
