Maya Navigation & Customization / Saving / Exporting & Setting Projects
Subtitles of the Movie
Saving files and exporting files within Maya is very easy. However, before starting any project you should set up a new project folder and the way we do that is to go to File, Project, and select New. Within a new project window you're now able to create a new name for your project, you can browse through the selections of locations that you'd like your project to be, and you also have the various folders that Maya will automatically set up for you. By choosing Use default, Maya will automatically name each folder for you according to its default system. Simply choose Accept for Maya to then go ahead and create your new project folder. Once your folder is created however, you'll need to direct Maya to the proper location so go File, Project, and choose Set. Set will automatically find the folder for you however you may need to select on the specific file folder that you're looking for. Now anytime that you're working within Maya and you choose to open a scene Maya will automatically default to its scenes folder. When saving, Maya gives you several options, you can obviously save a scene, save a scene as if you're overwriting, you can also export all or export the selection, in this case I selected just the gun. Export selection is very popular when exporting out an OBJ file for importing into programs such as ZBrush and Mudbox. To enable an export setting such as OBJ, if it's not already turned On you simply go to Setting Preferences, Plug in manager, within the Plug in manager, you'll need to look through the directory looking for the OBJexport.mml be sure to check on both loaded and auto load and then close the window. Now within your Export selection you'll now find in the dropdown menu your OBJ export selection is now available.
