Subtitles of the Movie

In this movie I want to go ahead and mention some other options that will be available to you with plug-ins. Now, you're not just going to be limited to the plug-ins that are available for GIMP through the Registry, but you're also going to be able to run some other plug-ins that are available for other commercial applications. Now, that being said, not all of the plug-ins or filters that will be available for these other commercial applications will work inside of GIMP but it's always worth taking a shot to see if it does work. So I'm going to go ahead here and jump over to my browser that's at HTTP: forward //www.GIMP.org/tilde TML/GIMP /win32/pspi.html. Now, of course, this URL may change at any given time so your best bet may be to go to your favorite search engine and just search for PSPI GIMP. Now, what the PSPI plug-in is going to allow you to do is run Photoshop Plug-Ins. Now, that's a really cool thing to be able to do. Now, you're going to be able to use a number of the different plug-ins that are available for Photoshop as long as they use the .8BF file extension. So a lot of your third-party plug-ins will work but some of the plug-ins that are available by default inside of Photoshop may not work and in fact, some of these third-party applications may not work either. It all depends on what libraries are dependent upon by GIMP and these plug-ins. Now, there are some little warnings on this page and this page is not all that long, so I do recommend that you read the entire thing before you get started and, of course, like a lot of your software, this is not guaranteed to work really but there are some pretty good things that this can do and it does run a lot of those third-party filters. So here it's talking about where you can find some of these filters and then if you take a look down below, it's talking about what's in the binary packages and for the Windows package it's just the filter plug-in itself and you'll put that in the GIMP's Plug-In Folder. And down below that it's talking about some issues that you may wish to be aware of. So go ahead and take the time to read all of that. And then down below it's talking about licensing for PSPI and then below that it has your downloads. So depending on which operating system you're using, you should click on the appropriate operating system and download it. Now, if you notice here, this is available for Windows and also available for a large number of your Linux distributions; however, it is not available for Mac OS at this time. So once you do get your PSPI installed, you will need to copy your different Photoshop filters over into the Plug-Ins Folder. Now, be default, your Plug-Ins Folder will be where PSPI will be looking but you can also change that if you take a look at some of the documentation. So that's the basics of this PSPI and really the reason why I chose to include this is because PSPI potentially gives you a lot of options for running other plug-ins inside of GIMP. So this is just a starting place for you to get to start working with PSPI. That concludes this movie on PSPI.
