Hi there. My name is James Street and I'm the tour guide and instructor in this VTC course on GIMP. Now it's not just GIMP. It's GIMP 2.6 so we're looking at specific things about GIMP 2.6 inside of this video series and of course you're probably wondering a little bit about this person who's telling me all about GIMP. So in this movie I'm going to talk a little bit about myself so that you have kind of a better understanding as to who you're dealing with. Like I said, my name is James Street and I am an IT professional working mostly in web design and web development. I do have a background in training. I've taught a lot of the Adobe Creative Suite for a few years. I am certified in the Adobe Creative Suite and a number of different applications. I have completed the requirements for the Ace Certification in Photoshop, Illustrator, InDesign, Acrobat, as well as the certification requirements for Dreamweaver and Flash. So I do hold some of these certifications in some of the applications that a lot of people use in graphics and web design areas. Now, where possible, in both my professional and personal life, I try to use open-source technology as much as possible, as well as contribute what I can back to the community. Now, one of the ways that I like to do this is to tell as many people as I can about open-source technologies. And where possible, I get them to install GIMP or Inkscape or any of these other tools onto their Desktop and try to get them to use it and if this means I set down for ten to fifteen minutes to show them the basics on how to use this tool, I do that because it's going to be a good experience for them and plus it opens them up to this whole new world of open-source software. Now, from time to time, some of these people I get to convince to even try out Linux and actually a lot of the times people will stick with it because it does exactly what they need it to do, which is to surf the web, edit videos, edit images, create images and do some basic word processing. And of course, Linux has a lot of these tools available for it and of course it's open and free. So I am a pretty big fan of open-source software. I enjoy using it and I do my best to contribute the way that I can by making it known to other people, as well as using these tools to create some of my own personal artwork and some of my own personal websites. So that's a little bit about who I am. So I do really hope that you guys did enjoy a lot about this video training series and also hope that you continue to learn as much as you possibly can about open-source software and how to use these things and continue to come back and check out VTC's videos on all of these different topics. So thanks a lot and I hope you enjoy exploring the wonderful world of open-source software.
