FileMaker Server comes bundled with a few extra tools and in this movie we will have a look at those. The first one is a tool to check your deployments and to test if all of the enabled technologies work as expected. FileMaker Server comes with a Sample File that gets installed automatically and that is preconfigured to allow all possibly types of access. Through FileMaker Pro and Go through Instant Web Publishing, through the XML Engine, through Custom Web Publishing through PHP and through ODBC and JDBC if you have FileMaker Server Advanced. And you can tell by these Enabled Buttons that all of these access types are enabled for the Sample File. If you are familiar with FileMaker Server's earlier versions you'll notice that XSLT is missing from this list. XSLT has been deprecated as FileMaker now favors web publishing through PHP. Now FileMaker Server offers us a test page to test all of these access types except for ODBC, JDBC and XML. From the Server Admin Console you can open that test page by choosing Server and then Go to the Test Page. Or if you do not have the Admin Console open you can go straight to the page through this URL. And URL basically is the name or IP address of your FileMaker Server, Port 16,000 forward slash Test. The links on the page will open the Test File, the Sample File through the different types of technologies. So you can launch FileMaker Pro from here, you can launch an Instant Web Publishing Session or you can launch a web page that displays the sample data through PHP Custom Web Publishing. In addition to this being a good check right after the installation this is always a good place to fall back in if you are troubleshooting problems in other files. So if you experience problems in another file you can always come here and see if ODBC and some web publishing, any of that works against the Sample File. The second tool is a Direct Access to all of the FileMaker Server PDFs from the Start Page and that's a great resource in combination with the Built-in Help. So if you have the Admin Console open you can go to Server in a Menu, Open the Start Page or you can go to this URL directly. And then here you will have links to all of the PDFs, all of the FileMaker Server documentation. In addition you'll have access to documentation about the PHP API, access to some resources on the FileMaker websites. Access to the test page that we just talked about, the knowledge base and some customer supports. If you have used FileMaker Server before you maybe looking for the PHP Site Assistant to help you build websites. Unfortunately that feature is gone and hopefully that feature can come back in a future version of FileMaker Server because it is a great learning tool for FileMaker Developers that want to learn PHP. So for now these are the tools that come extra with FileMaker Server. A Test Page to confirm that your installation works properly and Direct Access to the Documentation PDFs and various important websites.
