We will be undergoing scheduled maintenance on May 20th, 2013 at 02:00 GMT.
So the first thing is to set up an Admin User Account and password. That's the account and password that will be needed to be used whenever someone wants to open the FileMaker Server Admin Console. We are going to perform a clean installation but remember from what I said earlier if you had to use FileMaker Server 11 feature to save some of your settings then you can just go ahead and import them right here. The next screen is asking us to provide some information about our server including the name that will be shown to the users when they use the Open Remote Dialog. Here it is asking us if we want to enable ODBC and JDBC and remember this is FileMaker Server Advanced so this option would not be here for a regular FileMaker Server. So we'll just leave it enabled. Now this option is available for regular FileMaker Server. Do we want to enable Web Publishing? Yes we do and here are the different Web Publishing Options that are available to us. The second one in some Web Publishing is limited to FileMaker Server Advanced but the other two are available for regular FileMaker Server. And note here too that FileMaker Server installation can install the PHP Engine for us and that will be the right version that FileMaker Server needs. So we'll just let the FileMaker Server installation take care of that and here it will try and communicates with our web server. This is Windows so it is IAS. So behind the scenes FileMaker Server will install that Web Server Module that it needs on the web server and that was done. This is confirmation that everything that we had selected in the Deployment Wizard is now enabled and running. So FileMaker Server will now just go ahead and do its last bit of installation. And when that is done we will be able to click the OK Button and that will be the end of our installation. And that's done so we can close this dialog. And here we have our Admin Console and right here in the Overview it shows us the different components and that they are in the green. They are all running, our web server is running. We have PHP enabled; our Web Publishing Engine is enabled with both IWP and XML. Remember IWP is only Server Advanced. Our Database Server is running and we have ODBC and JDBC in there but again this is for FileMaker Server Advanced only. Now after installation you will find a new entry in the Server Sys Control Panel on Windows, right here. And as you can see it's, it's running and it's Startup Type is set to Automatic. So basically next comes the work of configuring and tweaking all the FileMaker Server Settings to meet our requirements. And this will be done right here in the Admin Console and we can do that from any workstation. We have separate movies for each of those preferences in this tutorial.
