So let's go into Layout mode, and I'm going to click on the shipping tab, go into Set tooltip, and this time I'm going to hit Specify, and now it may be clearer that we're actually working with a calculation and that's why we needed these quotes around all the text we typed in. So if we have that, we can put anything in here that we can calculate. For instance we can put company ampersand quote, then one of those paragraph symbols, quote ampersand. And by the way, if you do a single paragraph symbol you don't have to have quotes around it, but once you get to two you have to have quotes around it. I just usually always put quotes around it. Then we'll hit the return key here, and we'll go down and find name first, concatenate it with quote space quote ampersand name last. We could go on as far as we wanted; this will basically prove my point and show you how calculate key works. And then we'll go back into Browse mode, and we'll hover over that. You'll see it shows information about who the shipping is. If we go over here, it will show information about who the shipping is on this one. So it might be different, and it will show different information, so you can see what it is without actually having to go to the tab. It's up to you. And we can make it more complex so that when we hover over this one it doesn't show that blank line because there's no company there, we could put a case statement in there like we did before. But I think I've proven my point. Now let's take calculate keys a little bit farther. Let's go to Layout mode, and I'm going to click on this little area we have here, and set a tooltip there. We'll specify, we'll type in quote total records: space quote and then ampersand. And then we're going to use a get function called get total records. So it's way down here, and I made a little mistake, it's Get Total Record Count. Now this is similar to Get Found Count, except that it doesn't care what the found set is, it just tells you how many records you have in your database at that point. So we'll go ahead and click Ok, go back to Browse mode, and when we hover over this you notice that even though we have two records found, we can now see the total number of records. And again, when we hide this, we don't have that information anymore even though it's right down in the status area, and really we don't want to maybe take up that much space showing the total records, but we can certainly save space but still give the information by using a tooltip. So it's up to you, these are just different ideas. And I'm going to take another idea here and do a fairly complicated one. And what I'm going to do is I'm going to select this previous button, but I first have to ungroup it so we'll do that, and then we're going to select that button, and then we'll go up to set tooltip, and we're going to specify, and then we're going to use a function that's new to FileMaker 8 called Get nth record. Now what Get nth record does is allows you to look at other records in the found set. So I can say, grab this field from record number ten in the found set. So if we know that how that works, we can say, ok well I want you to grab name full and if you remember we made that calculation earlier which concatenates the first name and the last name together. I can say, grab me that value, and instead of just putting a number like one, or ten, or eleven, or twelve, or the record number I want; I can actually say, Get the record number from the current record, and then subtract one. And that will make it look at the previous record. So we'll get the name from the previous record, so before you click on that previous button, you'll know who the record is you're going to. And we're going to copy this, click Ok, click Ok again, and do the same with this button. The difference is we're going to change one little character, so we'll paste it in there. And in this case we'll say plus one. That's the only change we need to make. And we'll go back to Browse mode, and now we're on record number two, and this will show us John Mark Osborne. So let's see if that's true, it is true, it's showing you that information. Now this one should show you Janet Swanson. So you see how this works, it allows you to look forwards and backwards. So really, you want to think about, your most common tooltip is going to be just straight text, but a lot of times you can make some smart tooltips that will give the information about what's going on. So think of tooltips as saving space for you, but don't get carried away with them. If everything has a tooltip in it, it will get a little crazy.
