I would like to wrap up this section on script maker and script maker script steps by showing you very briefly the last four categories. The accounts script steps are script steps that you can use to modify security and will talk about these when we talk about the unified security model for FileMaker. What's interesting here is that all of these script steps are compatible with web but this shows you is that the unified security model does indeed apply when you are running on the web and when you running on the FileMaker, you can access the account and the security information equally from instant web publishing as you can from FileMaker itself. Spelling on the other hand is totally a FileMaker set of commands, you cannot do this when you are running on the web, and this gives you access to the commands in the spelling submenu. Open menu item most of these indeed are for use when you are running FileMaker itself. None of them are compatible with the web and they simply open the various menu commands that have not been shown in other sets of script steps like the new record command from the record menu. These are open menu items .So you can move around through FileMaker modifying and automating tests for users and opening these commands. Finally the miscellaneous section has a variety of commands that do things such as speaking the text, dialing the phone, going to URL, sending mail and I am going to focus on two of them. One is the comet script steps and you can at any point say type in you and put a comment any where you want into a script and the more comments that you have the easier it will be to read your script. A well comment in script is easy to maintain and to test. So put comets and you are not going to remember everything that you have done. Show custom dialogue has changed now in FileMaker 7 . What you can do is you could specify a title for the dialogue such as and you can enter text here but it's for the title of the dialogue as well as for the message you can use the calculation. So that for example you might have a message that might says please enter the data for customer and then concatenate it with the name of the current customer. You can specify up to three buttons, this is button 1 the ok button, button 2 cancel and but you can rename them. Now if I am using a calculation I can come down here to get functions, and I can come down here to get last message choice ,and get last message choice will give me a numeric value which corresponds to one or two or three. So get last message choice can be used in an if statement to find out which button has been clicked. I can also choose the two gather data using the custom dialogue and place it in various input fields. So for example I can say I want the data to go in to the customer id field and I can label that field in the dialogue customer_id or I can use the calculation to create it and I can use up to three fields. If I come down here I perform this script. You will see that what I have done is I have got the title that I entered the message please enter the data for new customer and customer id. The current record is id 2 so that's the data value that seeded here but I can change it to 4 if I wanted to and default is go a head or I could have used stop. So that is how I come back in here to construct a custom dialogue with a title, a message, the buttons. Get Last Message choice will tell me which one has been selected and the input fields up to three and I can specify any field that I can get to through relationships. There are other script steps in the miscellaneous script steps, you can explore them. But these are the ones you use most often I think comment and show custom dialogue. ******** of the third most often is exit application you can quit from FileMaker itself from the script.
