Interface Design / Sub-Areas pt. 2

Subtitles of the Movie

So, now we're looking pretty good. If we're happy with that, what we want to do is duplicate both these pieces together; 123456 and then do this over and then hold down the Shift Key so it goes straight over and try to get it about the same spot. You're not going to get it perfect so what you're going to want to do is use that little technique where you draw a little rectangle here. I'm going to draw it right to the edge of that. It's not quite big enough and it is engraved, so I'm going to click to None. Make it a little bit bigger. Make it red. We don't have to fill it with red, but you should at least make the line red. There we go. And that looks good so we'll see how this one works out. Put it right on the edge right there. You see we need to move all this stuff over a little bit. One more back and that's looking pretty good. Now we can get rid of this. Actually we'll keep it around because we're going to do something else with it. Type in Shipping and we're looking pretty good. Now we want to make sure that they're the same space from this edge to this edge. And they're looking pretty close. Let's line it up, resize this little rectangle. That looks pretty good. Move it over here. You can see this one needs to move a little bit more over, a couple pixels. There we go. And now they're perfectly aligned. Let's take a look at Browse Mode and see what they look like. Hide this, hide that and this really makes it look nice. You really can see that engraving draws you into this area where it's your data entry area. I really like that and again, spend all this time because if you spend all the time on one layout, you'll get this layout perfect and then you can duplicate it within this solution to use it for other layouts. But even to other solutions if you want. So I really spend the time to make things perfect because people will notice the professionalism of your interface. In fact, if they don't notice it because they see that everything's perfectly organized, that's even a good thing. If they don't think about it and it just makes sense, and things aren't lined up and, you know, it just will make the experience much, much better.
