Working with 3D Objects / Applying Modifiers pt. 2

Subtitles of the Movie

Continuing with our discussion of the modify panel, another thing that you can do here is change the color of the object. Click on color box, click on the color and click OK and you've changed the color of the object. Below the stack list, we have a number of tool buttons. On the right we have the configure modifier sets button, we have already looked at that. Next to that we have the remove modifier button. The trash can, to use that just click on a modifier and click on the trash can and the modifier is deleted. The next button is the make unique button. To use that, you need multiple objects, so I am going to come back to that in the next chapter. And this is the show end result on off toggle. This determines whether the view ports display the end result of the entire stack or just the result up to the point in the stack that you have selected. So for example, right now, I have selected the base object, the cylinder. But the view ports are still displaying the results of the entire stack, because this toggle is on. If I click this toggle to turn it off the view ports display the cylinder. The level that level I am at in the stack and I can click the bend modifier and the view ports now display the stack just up to the bend modifier. It's just a small bend but you can see it here for example. And if I click on taper, it displays the cylinder with the bend and the taper. In that case that's the same as the whole stack, so turning the toggle back on doesn't have any effect. And the last button here is the pin stack button. This keeps the currently visible stack in view no matter what else you do. So normally for example, if I click off an object in the view port, I deselect it and its stack is no longer visible. But if I click the pin stack button first, I can click off the object, deselect it and that object stack remains visible. However if the object is not selected and I deselect pin stack then the object stack is no longer visible until I reselect the object. pin stack then the object stack is no longer visible until I reselect the object.
