Inserts. So, most of you are probably familiar with Inserts. Inserts would be the same thing that you would see in most cases with guitar pedals, so you plug your guitar into a pedal board and then it comes out of one pedal board to another to another to another from one pedal to the next. So, that's used as an Insert, so whatever signal that's coming in is now being colored by the device and it gives our overall Output. So, in Pro Tools 8 we now have 10 Inserts. Pro Tools 7 we got 10 Sends, so we can go in and choose what Plug-ins we want to use, so Time Division Multiplexing, our TDM Plug-ins that actually use the processing of the card; we can also do Artaz Plug-ins, Realtime Audio Suite, which allows us to use the CPU to be able to process. Keep in mind that if you're on an HD system the order that you do insert your Plug-ins does make a difference, so if I decide to go TDM and then go Artaz it's going to chew up more voices to actually be able to do this because it has to go out to the Card back to the system to the CPU to process through Artaz and then go back to the Card for the Mix Bus, so I am going to chew up some voices if that is an issue for you. So, now on this I can go in and I can start Compressing, do whatever effect Ð you've got two compressors going on at this point Ð do Makeup Gain, and a whole bunch of other things, so see the Artaz movie that goes over actually using Inserts and some of the effects that we use with Inserts. We can also, on HD systems and LE systems, use our IO Setup. On HD systems we also have Delay Compensation that we can set up, so this is actually going out to external gear. So, if I go to my IO Setup I could assign this to go out to External Gear and then if there is some latency that's on my Outboard Gear then I can compensate for that. I'm typing in the number in milliseconds here.
