Grid Mode Ð Shuffle, Slip, Spot, plus Grid. So, new to Pro Tools 8 we now have the option to be able to combine our various Modes together, and this may, at first, seem kind of confusing to have these combined. What we're doing is we're always combining one of the other Modes with Grid, so if I do something like I want to take this Region and combine it with Grid, what this does is when I delete something or move a Region it's still going to function based on what Shuffle is, so let me show you what I mean by that. I'll zoom out, and then I'll delete part of this Region, and you can see that it's Shuffling, but what's happening is, my selections are being made by the Grid. So, as I zoom in Ð let me show you what I mean, and let me change what my Grid Values are, so I actually want to go to Bars in this case so it's a little more obvious Ð as I'm making my selection, my selections are jumping based on Bars. I'll zoom in even more. So, I'm selecting right in the middle of a Bar and you can see that it's not allowing me to do that. So, my actual Edit functions are happening like Shuffle Mode, so when I hit Delete everything bumps over. I'm going to Undo that and go to Slip, make a selection again, and now when I go into Delete it's actually going to delete and leave things where they're at. So, I'm going to hold down Grid by doing F4 and then F2 at the same time puts me into Slip plus Grid, so you can see now when I make my selections they are selecting by the Grid but I'm deleting based on the way these other functions are. So, if I go into something like Spot Mode and I want to do Spot and Grid, again, I'm still able to make selections, but if I try to move a Region then I'm going to get the Spot Mode Dialog. So, that's our new Combined Options with Grid. Grid is basically the selection.
