Today if you want to know who someone is, it's very easy; take a look at their website. So I thought I'd introduce myself and show you my website, which will give you an idea of some of the things that I'm interested in and the work that I've done. It's as NorthCountryConsulting.com and this is what it looks like. It changes all the time but this is what it looks like at the moment. As you can see, I've written a number of books and to me it seems as if there are some common threads here. Because I like to work with cutting-edge technologies like Drupal and Mashups, I've been involved with FileMaker for years and now with its companion persona database, Bento, I'm interested in structuring data, working with cutting-edge technology and of course with Mac OS X, bringing it all, whether it's the complexity of data management or the excitement of cutting-edge technologies, bringing it all to users in a way that makes sense and Mac OS X really matters when you're talking about iPhone because not only is iPhone a product of Apple, but the operating system that's running on iPhone is in fact a variant of Mac OS X. You can make the argument that Mac OS X as it is today evolved quite literally from earlier versions of the operating system Next Step which was developed by Next which Apple bought in the nineties. It became Rhapsody and then it became Mac OS X. If you trace back, the computers on which the first versions of the precursors of Mac OS X ran were actually less powerful. Not only less powerful than today's Macs, but less powerful than the iPhone so what we're working with is a structure that some of us have been familiar with for years and we can now use it on a whole range of devices. What I like about iPhone web apps is that they combine the power and the complexity of the operating system and these development tools that have evolved literally over decades with an end-user experience that is responsive and immediate. One of the things that we've learned from working with Apple and what they've done over the years is a focus on the user and what they want to do and I hope in this tutorial what I'm able to do is to help guide you towards fulfilling those promises for your own users. Providing value and simplicity to the people who are using your apps. So that's a little bit about me and if you want to visit the website, that's fine. If you want to see some other things that I've been working on, you can look at VTC because I've done several tutorials that fit into this combination of Mac OS X and cutting-edge technologies. There's a tutorial on building Facebook apps that you might find interesting if you're interested in the cutting edge and there's an old technology from Apple that remains in place today called Dashboard. Now, Dashboard is the precursor of the apps that you're going to be developing for web apps on iPhone. So it's all part of a continuum and I hope you enjoy it as much as I have and personally I can't wait for the next chapters in this adventure.
