Well here we are at the course wrap-up and before I leave you with ASP.NET and throw you to the testing wolves here, I want to give you just some closing remarks here to help you kind of get acclimated on where to go next. First of all, understand that the ASP.NET Design Exam is a very broad deep river. Okay. And let me just put it that way. The text question universe on this particular topic is extremely large. There's a lot of different specialty areas, you have Client Side coding, JavaScript, AJAX, jQuery. You have State Management, you have messing with all of the controls, messing is a southern technical term for programming. You know, you have a lot of stuff going on, then you have design issues and all that so there's a lot of different things to, to be questioned about here and so the best way to prepare for this exam is number 1, get as much technical understanding as you can on each one of the areas involved in ASP.NET. Now I've done a lot of that in this course because if you've gone through this entire course, you've gotten a lot of technical jargon and basics and foundational understanding and in some cases some more advanced understanding kind of thrust at you here. So there's a lot to learn right here in this course but then you need hands on experience and you simply cannot get too much hands on experience before you go take this course. Alright. Now let me give you an exam warning here and I hate to use that word warning because I don't want to psych you out or scare you about this exam but just understand that this exam subject matter has been moving around differently from what Microsoft has posted on their website about the stated, you know, suggested, requirements for this course and the things that you're going to be tested on. Now one thing in particular has shown up on some exams and people are reporting it out there on the Internet and that is that ASP.NET MVC, the, the Model View Controller pattern shows up on the exam from time to time. I've not included MVC in this course because it is a course in itself. So I would strongly encourage you to go out and do just a little bit of reading on .NET MVC, the Model View Controller Method of building sites. It is totally different, I mentioned it a couple of times in the course and I talked about why we need to know about ASP.NET Routing and how we can you know now request pages that don't map to physical files on the page but they can map to methods and classes. That is the Model View Controller pattern and for some people they are reporting seeing, you know, a fair number of questions on MVC. So just go read up on that okay? But for the most part if you learn the stuff that I've covered in the exam here, you should be able to pass this test even without MVC, unless Microsoft continues to kind of shift that. Okay. So just, just kind of be aware of that. Now with all that in mind, now that I've psyched you out, let me tell you what you need to do to sit this exam. First of all, when you first get in there, before you type in your Social Security number and kick off the timing on this exam, write down any aspect of ASP.NET that confuses you. Put it on your little write on, wipe off that they give you before you begin. That way you can use that as a reference during the exam. So anything that you tend to get confused on, learn some sort of numonic or something before you go, memorize whatever you need to, write it down on that board before you start and then relax. Now this next statement's going to scare some of you, but deal with it. Okay. Failing this exam might be the best test prep you can do. So here's what I want you to do. Go into this exam and understand, if you fail this exam, life will go on. Alright. Trust me on this one, I know. So the fear of failure is usually worse than failure and you simply do not know a successful person who hasn't experienced failure. We learn from our failures. You learn to walk by falling down. You learn to do anything that you're good at by failing at it. So don't worry and if you will go ahead and settle that in your mind before you go into this exam, it won't intimidate you so bad. We tend to shoot ourselves in the foot on these exams by getting nervous. So here's the best way to overcome nervousness on these exams. When you get in there, read the first question. If you're not absolutely positively sure of the correct answer, go to the next question. Keep doing that until you finally get a question that you absolutely positively know the answer to. This might be question 14. Alright. Once you get a few that you know, then you can return back to the first one and I usually just go through every question, answer the ones I know and then go back through it and answer the next ones, because a lot of times, some questions will tip you off as to other questions. And so you're like okay, wait a minute, that reminds me, you know, it'll jog your memory about the way something else works. Also after you answer a few right, suddenly you become you know, Joe ASP.NET and you can tackle any question. A lot of times it's just a matter of settling down and getting a hold of your nerves. This course is really only difficult for people who have not had adequate hands on experience with ASP.NET and then haven't taken a good look at the new aspects. Alright. So prepare, get some hands on, as much as you can, go out and read a little bit about ASP.NET MVC and you should be okay and I wish you the best of luck, I hope I've helped you with this course, you'll see in the About the Author Video, I include my email address, I would love to hear from you, but anyway. Thanks for being here and I hope I've gotten you ready for the exam.
