As I had mentioned, I have included in the Work Files, the terminology when you're using SQL Profiler. You will know that it describes what you events are. Now, remember the events are what we can actually start tracking within the server itself. The login connections, SQL statements, remote procedure calls, stored procedures, statements, errors, locks, cursors, even permissions can all be checked within the Profiler. It also talks to you about is defined as an event class. This is the column that describes the event that was actually produced by the server. Keep in mind that this event class is what actually determines the type of data that was collected. The other aspect of this document is actually telling you about the preset templates that come in SQL Server. You will notice, for instance, that the Standard is a generic starting point for the trace that captures all of stored procedures and SQL batches that are run so the idea is you use this to actually monitor your general database server activity. You'll also know that there is a number of different components that are for your SQL statements. You can capture these statements that are actually submitted then debug them or track them accordingly. It allows you to identify the slow queries. It will allow you to see if there is locks, benchmark testing, variety of different tools. You will also notice that you have your tuning. You can capture information about the procedures and your batch executions. The idea here is that you can use the trace to actually look at the Database Tuning Adviser to really see what the workload is and tune your databases accordingly. This is a standard Adobe file so it should be very easy to print out and again, it's contained within your Work Files.
