DNS Tutorials

Welcome / Introduction

Subtitles of the Movie

In this course, I explain what DNS is, how it works and how to use DNS clients and servers. In this course, you'll see me use four operating systems; I use Microsoft windows XP professional seen here for anything involving windows DNS clients. Microsoft window server 2003 seen here, for anything involving windows DNS servers and I use SUN SOLARIS 8, seen here, for anything involving UNIX DNS, including both clients and servers. In addition I use Red Hat LINUX 9 to explain some LINUX specific installation issues. Other than in the installation, DNS on SOLARIS and LINUX is identical, so I'll stick to SOLARIS when possible. In this course, I assume that you have some UNIX knowledge, such as how to file systems laid out and how to edit files. You should also have some windows knowledge, such as how to use the administrative tools and a command line window. And in addition you should have some basic knowledge of TCP/IP such as how IP addresses are used. ddresses are used.
