Probably the last couple things that you need to be aware of when you're thinking about doing Lettering inside Painter is the different way that you need to deal with word balloons. So I'm going to go ahead and grab the Ellipse Tool here and pull out an ellipse and normally we would take something like the Pen Tool and we would click and we would do something like this. And while that looks fine for what we're doing here - let me just get those guys activated, there we go - this can't be done and the reason why it can't be done is because even though we have what we want here and, you know, we should be able to do the same types of things, we can't actually connect these two using a Path Finder command because there is none inside Painter. We could manually cut these with the Scissors Tool and then try to rejoin these points, however, I personally think that that's really not so much fun. So, an option that we have here is to go ahead and select both these guys and I'm just going to go ahead and undo that little transformation that I did by accident and go to Shapes, Convert to Selection. And assuming that you're at a high enough resolution you can throw up a new layer and I'm going to go ahead and make the canvas transparent so we can see this and I'm going to go ahead and fill this with white. So, I'm going to take white and I'm going to go Edit, Fill. And now we have a white fill for our balloon and now I'm going to go ahead and just change this color here to black. Just pull that all the way down, hit OK and I'm going to change my Stroke options here for Draw Everywhere and I'm going to choose the Gouache category with the Balloon Stroke Brush, just like so and I think a point size of 3 is going to be fine for here. I'm going to say Select, Stroke, Selection and I'm just going to go ahead and hide that real quick so you can see. So, let's go ahead and zoom in on that guy and you'll see what I mean. It's not ideal. I mean, first of all it's raster versus vector so, you know, this is not something that you can scale but, you know, in a pinch this will do as a fast alternative to using Illustrator and if you just need it for like a one-off type project then it may be something that'll work for you. I'm going to go ahead and close that. A better option, however, is just to go ahead, take your Oval Tool here and go over under the white arrow and grab your Add Anchor Point and what we're going to do now is we're just going to go ahead and click and create three new points on this and I need to zoom in a little so I can get a little bit closer. There we go. You've got to be accurate to get right on that. Now I'm going to go ahead and grab the white arrow and pull that middle one out and that middle one's going to be the tip of our flag. I'm going to take the Convert Anchor Point, pull back and you can see here that we can do quite a lot with that. So, you know, just like in Illustrator we can manipulate these till the cows come home and get exactly the effect that we want. We want to be somewhat careful because we're actually distorting the balloon but in a pinch that will also do. This is actually, come on, there we go. There we go, that's better. So, in a pinch, that'll do. You have a lot of options as far as the ways that you want to align these types of things as well. So, I'm just going to go ahead and delete that guy for now. There we go. And, take and do something like this and maybe I'll do another one like this and maybe I'll take a square and do something like that. So, let's say that we wanted to align these guys but we didn't want to do it manually. So, there is an Align function just like the Align Palette in Illustrator and I'm going to go ahead and select these three layers and I'm going to go to Effects, Objects, Align. You can see here that we have the ability to align Left, Center and Right on the Horizontal and we have, on the Vertical, Top, Middle and Bottom. We also have the ability to choose None if we don't want anything in particular. So, let's say that I want to do Middle and None. So I'm going to hit OK. So you can see here that we have the ability now to modify these and arrange them in whatever way we want to using that Align command and it's pretty much the exact same function as what we would get in Illustrator. So, as you can see, not ideal, but at the same time very, very workable and, of course, one of those things that's not commonly talked about when it comes to Painter but Painter works really, really great with Illustrator in terms of taking simple vector graphics back and forth between Painter and Illustrator. So, bear that in mind and, of course, the place where you'd want to do that is you'd want to go over here to Acquire Adobe Illustrator File and Export Adobe Illustrator File. Now you have to use a very simple Adobe Illustrator 3 version file, but the thing about that is, is that all it's looking for is the vector information. It doesn't care about things like the Fill and the Stroke and anything like that. It only cares about the actual shape itself. But you can freely move those back and forth and take advantage of different elements in different programs. So try to think a little bit outside the box when you're thinking of this because those two programs do really great stuff together and just look around and you'll find that there's some really great stuff out there where people are mixing raster and vector art in Painter and in Illustrator.
