Interface / Libraries and Movers
Subtitles of the Movie
There are several libraries associated with certain tools in Painter and as you see here when I click on this arrow I am able to see the paper mover and if I go to the other tools such as patterns I have a pattern mover and a look mover and so on. So what is a mover, a mover is simply a way for you to select your favorite papers or textures or looks and then save them in a library that you can load and work with exclusively instead of having to see all this tuff in this list here. Let's go ahead and take a look at how that works, so we'll stay in the paper category, and I'm gonna go to the paper mover. And the paper mover dialog box appears. Here we'll list the name of the current paper when I click on it. So this tells me the name of the paper. If I want to delete one of these papers all I have to do is select it like this and click delete, which I'm not going to do. Or I can click on change name which will allow me to change the name of the current paper to whatever is more meaningful or descriptive to me. I can also close this particular library and open up another library. So let's say you created a library and I wanted to use some of the papers or change some of them around I can close this, click open and then find the name of your textures and this is the default one that comes with the Corel Painter, paper textures, click open and now I can work with that. So let's go ahead and talk about how to create your own library. So what I'll do is I'll click new over here, one time. I'm gonna click on my desktop, I'm gonna save this as my library. Of course it's not really very descriptive so in the long run this might come back to haunt me so you know I might want to say my paper library or something like that. I'll click save and now once I've saved that the name of my new library appears right here and now I can click and drag over the textures that I might want to work with on a particular project. And once again the reason you want to do this is sometimes when you have a large list of papers staring at you its a little distracting. You might just want to work with these to do certain tasks and once I am happy with this I can go ahead and click quit. Now, you see this long list here, this is what I was talking about, what if I want to just see the library that I created in this list and not all these textures here or papers. I'm gonna go to the options, I'm gonna choose open, library and I'm gonna leave the appendicle, I don't want to add this to that list. I want to load my library and here it is on my desktop, my library. You get a little preview of what's in there. I'll click open and now when we come back to this list just the papers that I want to deal with are listed. I wanted to go back to what was there before, just find that, so I'll go to open library, I'm gonna click load and I know that's in my applications folder and I'm gonna find my Painter folder and here's my paper textures, I'll click open and now my papers are back. So what libraries and the paper mover will allow you to do is to open an library and then save the library with the textures or papers that you want to work with so that you can then give them someone else to work with or create your own custom textures and include them in materials for someone else on your team or someone else to work with. It's a very cool feature and it allows you to work with just what you need to see at that particular for that particular project without having to see everything in this list.
