Interface / Property Bar
Subtitles of the Movie
Like many computer applications Painter has quite a few tools for you to work with. Now can you imagine having to constantly double click on the tool to open up a window so you can change settings and the way that tool works and then closing that window to go back to your work. Well fortunately Painter has something called the property bar which is located right here at the top of our interface. And it changes based on the tool you are currently working with. For example I have my brush selected and I can change the mode based on what I want to do. I can change the size of the brush, so let me go ahead and change that smaller actually, getting a little dialog box here. Its telling me my brush is too big. So I can go ahead and change the size of my brush. I can change the opacity of that brush so it's a little darker. I can change the grain and I can change the jitter all by having the brush selected and going up to the properties. This changes based on what tool you have selected as you see here. So I am able to change the properties of whatever I am working with. So if I want to draw a selection and then add to that selection I click this guy here so when I click and drag I add to my selection and I can click this guy to subtract from that selection without having to hold down the Shift key all from the property bar. Same is true for everything else. So I can go ahead and change my crop ratios and I can change all kinds of other things from the way the pen works to the type of stroke and fill we have to our different shapes and the colors we have here. To our type tools, I can change the font very easily, I can change how that font works whether its centered or justified left or right and I can do all kinds of things. So if you want to have full control of your tools make sure you go to your window menu and make sure your looking at the property. So if you don't see it just make sure you go right to where it says window hide property bar which will then say show property bar so I'm gonna go ahead and hide that for now. And go back to window, show property bar, and there it is.
