The Selection Portfolio is pretty much a Holding Bin for things that you use over and over again; it's like a library in another application. If I go to the Window Menu I can choose Selection Portfolio and as you can see it has shapes in there pretty much. Like this Arrow, what I can do is click on it and drag it on out and if I want to I can scale it. So I think I'll do that. I'll go ahead and grab the Handles here and Scale this up, like so and then what I can do is fill in with a color. Now this is really handy because I can do this over and over again. Let me go ahead and clear this out. Now let's say for example, let me create a Brand New Document, let's say for example that there's an Icon or a tattoo drawing or a word balloon or a burst or any kind of shape that you want to have at the ready, whenever you need to and I'd like for example, you work for a gym and your logo is a barbell silhouette and you want to bring that out without having to draw it every single time. Well I'm going to show you how to do that as well. So I'm going to grab my Marquee Tool, make sure the little add to Selection Button is depressed and I'm going to draw out a very quick little dumbbell kind of Icon and once again the whole point of this is so that I can have access to this and I can use it at anytime. I'll give it a Fill Color with my Paint Bucket and I'm going to grab this guy right here, our Selection Adjustor and literally click and drag it into the Selection Portfolio. Once I let go of the mouse the Save Selection Dialog Box asks me to name it. So I'll call it Dumbbell or just call it Weights, whatever you want to call it. You can say Weight Logo, whatever you want to call it click OK and when I scroll to the bottom of the list there it is. So I can create a Brand New Document and let's say I'm working and I'm working, I'm doing my thing and I'm done working on something for a client and he always wants the Dumbbell Logo down here somewhere. So I can click and drag that out, color it in if I want to and scale it down.
