When I'm not on the computer creating artwork I am reading magazines. I love to read techniques by other artists and also to see what other creative people in the industry are doing. It's a great source of motivation and chances are I'll toss the magazine down and wind up back on the computer or in a Sketch Book. So I want to share with you some magazines that you might be interested in. Some of them have a rather hefty price tag because they're imported from Europe, but they're worth it because they have CD's which have software and also resources and also if you work for yourself you can write these magazines off on your taxes, so it's a win, win all around. Alright one of my favorite magazines is Corel Painter, the official magazine. Many magazines from England are oversized, so it's a really nice magazine, it's pretty massive and it's awesome. Has a CD and it has a ton of techniques. It breaks down different Brush Categories and it tells you what they do and how you use them and there are great pieces of Artwork in there that will show you what this software is capable of. Painter Magazine also shows you people who use the software, literally from scratch where there's no Photograph for instance, they just paint in it and also people who like to paint with Clone Techniques. So everything is covered in this magazine. Once again you'll find it at your favorite book store, Corel Painter Official Magazine. Another magazine from England also, another one of my favorites, Imagine FX, good times here, especially if you like fantasy and science and fiction. Now, anybody who knows me, knows I love me a dragon and I like knights in shining armor and all that kinds of cool stuff. So I love to read this magazine to see the techniques created by those artists. Also from England so it's a little pricey, 15, 16 bucks, both of these guys here, so they will set you back and you might want to subscribe to them. 2D Artist Magazine is a really cool magazine and it's unique in the fact that it's a PDF Magazine that you can subscribe to and download and read it on your computer or print it out if you want to. A lot of pages in these magazines, these are pretty thick and the artwork is amazing and I subscribe to this one as well as 3D Artists. So if you want to get started with inspiration and techniques, like right now, instantly, as soon as you subscribe you'll be given a link where you can download this month's issue and there's back issues available as well that you can download. Good times, all around, beautiful magazine. You can also check out one of my new favorites, art scene international. I just found this gem by mistake, wasn't really paying attention and I got hooked. I love the articles, I love the artwork in it and there's all kinds of stuff in here from painting, to Photoshop to Airbrush, it's really good stuff, so check out Art Scene International. Juxtapose is a good magazine when you want to read about the culture of artwork. So you can read about the artists, their techniques and their lifestyles, really good stuff, a little edgy so becareful you might not want the kids to read this one. Definitely check it out first if you want to have some young ones check it out. So those are some magazines that you should check out, so enjoy them, get motivated and get inspired.
