RealBristle Brushes like so many other parts of Painter can be customized to suit your needs. So I'm going to show you the Control Palette as well as how to find something's dealing with RealBristles and other things in the Help Menu. The cool thing is the Help Menu actually has pictures of a brush and the parts associated with it. So using that guide it'll be a clearer visualization as to how the controls work. So what I'm going to do is I'm going to Window Menu first and then I'll choose Brush Controls and then down here in the bottom RealBristle. As you can see this opens up my RealBristle Palette and don't worry if you see a whole bunch of other palettes attached to it, just like right here in this bar and just drag it out if you need to. Alright so what we have first of all is the ability to enable or disable RealBristle with this Checkmark. The Brush Tip Profile will dictate how the Brush Tip works when you paint of course. So you have all kinds of profiles that you can apply. Now we can also use the Sliders to affect how our brush works and we can talk about the Roundness Slider which will literally take the brush from being a flat profile like this to a more round by using this Slider. The Bristle Length talks about how far away from the Ferrule, which is the middle holder of the bristles from the Ferrule to the paper or how long it is from the holder to the length of the brush like so. Let me give you another indictor, it's a little easier if I show you. I'm going to Painter Help and just show you where this is, so you can see exactly the pictures I was talking about. So I'm going to type in here Profile, hit Enter or Return and then I'm going to find the real bristle Profile and as you can see here we have RealBristle Controls, I'll double click and I can go to RealBristle Settings and as I mentioned you pictures in here. So we have the Profile, the Brush Tip, the Bristle Length and the Ferrule, this is the guy that holds all these guys together. So what you could do is you can do things like type the word Surface and find other things that deal with RealBristle. All you have to do is just look through the list here and you see RealBristle Controls and it'll come back here again. So you click on RealBristle Brushes and then you can look at all the other things that have to do with RealBristle. So we have the Settings, the Brushes and we have the Palette that we're in right now. So I'll go ahead and click on that and here we have more pictures. As you saw in my drawing when I did the stroke like this it had a flat drawing and this is the Roundness. So I'm going to go ahead and slide down a little bit and as I said before the Bristle Length talks about the length of the bristle from the ferrule. So we have a short bristle length and a longer one and the profile length as you can see here gives you a percentage of the overall length of the bristles as I mentioned as well. The Rigidity let's you control the Flexibility and the Fanning of course gives you that splay so when you press down it determines how much is going to spread apart and then of course we have the ability to control the friction of the brush and on and on. So let me go ahead and put that back down here. So that's what all these guys do for you and the height literally is how high your hand is from the canvas when you're painting. In the case of a Digital Tablet that's how high the brush would emulated. So with the higher height, which sounds crazy the brush would of course have the bristles longer and when you have the height lower of course the bristles would be really close to the canvas and spread out more. So just experiment with all these Sliders and then you'll be able to get better control over your brushes. Sometimes when you just choose one from the Variants it may not have just the right amount of control you need and then you'll have to take out the palette to really just go ahead and modify it to your liking.
