Using the Serigraphy Surface Control we can take this image, or any image and turn it into something that looks like a tie-dyed T-shirt, or something that looks like a silkscreen. And what happens is, we can take the colors in the image we have selected and swap them for other colors, and then from those colors create spot Layers of color, and those colors will wind up in our Layers Palette. I'm going to go to Effects, Serigraphy, or you can just go to Surface Control. Don't forget. This was here because I was playing around with it earlier. So, I'm going to go to Surface Control, Serigraphy. And then I can see a preview of my document. What I can do is choose to match a color in the image and then change that color by giving it a different Fill color. For example, let's see here. Well, we all know the sky's blue, but what if I want to make my sky yellow? So, I'll go and choose Match, by clicking on that Swatch right there. The Color Picker opens up and I can click on this little Sample Tool here, the magnifying glass, and I can click in the region that I want to change. So, I'll click that and it will put that color here, and also here, and as you can see it selects it for me. Then I can go to Fill Color, click on that Swatch and then choose a different color, so I'll make it really crazy yellow; hit OK, and now we have a yellow sky. Now, if that's too much you can work with the Smoothing Controls, the Threshold Controls to take that down a notch, and you can distribute the weighting and the Hue weighting, the Saturation, and the Luminance, so you have a lot of control as far as how much of that color you want or don't want to see. Once you're happy with that click Create Serigraphy Layer, and then we have this Serigraphy Layer in our Layers Palette Ð there's the yellow spot color. Let's go ahead and continue and choose a different match. This time I will change the color of the bark. I'll choose Match, grab this guy here Ð and by the way, I hope you guys aren't laughing at my pronunciation of Serigraphy, because it's quite difficult, especially when you have to say it 100 times. So, I'm going to change that color to, let's say orange or red, and hit OK and look at that. You have this really cool effect right there. And don't forget you can always change the Smoothing, the Threshold, and the Threshold determines how much of that's going to be in that image based on the color. Be very careful with these Controls. They're tremendously sensitive, so you know, just take your time and move that Slider. I'll go ahead and create a Serigraphy Layer Ð there we go Ð and now we have a second one, and I'll just do one more. Let's go ahead and change the ground color a little bit. Let's get rid of some of this. Go to Match, grab that, say OK, and then we'll give it a different Fill. We'll give it a blue, and Create Serigraphy Layer. That's just so fun saying after a while. I'll click Done, and now we have this completely alien landscape and all of the Spot Layers associated with this effect.
