In this movie, we'll take a look at the quality assurance process. Quality assurance involves the evaluation of overall project performance with the idea of making sure that the project is in compliance with quality standards and if not, corrective action should be taken as needed. Quality assurance has a dual purpose in terms of evaluating performance. First is what I've already mentioned and that's auditing the project performance to ensure that the project is in compliance with the quality standards and metrics. Quality control measurements are typically captured and recorded, as well as analyzed prior to this step. But the process of quality assurance takes it to the next step. In fact, this is where quality audits come in. Quality audits review and evaluate project performance to ensure that the quality management processes are indeed being followed. The usual case is that a quality assurance department handles the quality audits but of course, this depends on whether or not your organization has a quality department and whether one has been assigned to work on the project in question. Quality audits can be scheduled and they can also be ad hoc. Project managers should not delay or avoid quality audits. As a side note, audit is a word that I'd like for you to associate with quality assurance. The second thing I'd like to point out in terms of quality assurance is that it not only audits project performance, but it also audits project management processes. It determines whether the processes are being followed correctly, whether they are producing the right results and whether they're efficient. They look to see where improvements can be made. This is very similar to lessons learned, which documents what went well and what didn't go well within the project, so we can use this information and knowledge gained to improve our processes and to better the outcome and management of future projects. And that covers all that you need to know about quality audits for the exam, bringing this movie to a close.
