Introducing Dreamweaver / Site Setup
Subtitles of the Movie
In this movie, we're going to set up our site files. I'm going to go ahead and close out of that untitled document. It doesn't really matter what you have open here. We won't be using these particular features through this movie, so it doesn't much matter. And I'm going to go up to site, new site and what we're going to do is define the website for our course. So under site name, I'm going to name this SUMA. The local root folder is going to be a folder inside our CFusion MX7 folder. Now, one thing I should mention before we move on to that is there are two tabs in this site definition area, so if yours happen to open with the basic tab, just click the advanced tab and type in SUMA as the site name. Go ahead and click the folder to the right of local root folder and what we're going to do is go out to our C drive and choose the CFusion MX7 folder. Inside of that is our wwwroot. That's a tough one to say. And we're going to choose the SUMA folder, so go ahead and double click that. We wan to make sure it says select SUMA down at the bottom here. So we have our C drive, CFusion MX7, wwwroot and SUMA. What we're going to do next is set up the images folder and notice when we click that folder down in this area, what it did was moved us right into the SUMA folder inside our CFusion; the same one we set up as the root folder. So we'll double click this images folder here, choose select and we are set in the local info for now. We'll move down to the testing server area and set that up. Now, one thing I do want to point out before we set up this area is notice there's no reference to ColdFusion in our insert bar area up at the top here. As soon as we've set up our ColdFusion server model, two tabs will be added to this insert area, specific to ColdFusion. So just watch for that. So under server model, we want to go down to ColdFusion. In our access we're going to choose local network and notice how it pops the folder right into our testing server folder. In case yours did not, this is the path you want to choose. You can browse up to it. So it is CFusion MX7 wwwroot SUMA, the exact same folder we're using in our local info. Now, it did pop in the URL prefix here, but we need to change this just slightly. If we went to this prefix it's showing you right now, it would be looking for a SUMA folder on our IIS server, so what I need to do is put a colon 8500. Anytime you're working in the JRun server that comes with ColdFusion, you need to add the 8500 port and now it will know that we're going to go to ColdFusion. I'm going to show you something that will happen. I will click OK and we are going to get this little message. What it's saying is we had a URL in our local info that does not match the URL we just added in our testing server area. I'm going to click cancel and whether you click cancel or ok, it doesn't much matter because they both lead you to the same spot. So now what I'm going to go do is edit that information. So in your files panel, you should now see the SUMA folder and you will have a lot more files than I do at this point. So don't let that concern you. But I'm going to click this drop-down arrow to the right of SUMA and go down to manage sites. I'm going to select SUMA and click edit and we're going to modify this information here in local info so it matches our testing server information. So I can really just copy it from the testing server area and paste it into the http address. Now both URLs match up and we will not get this message this time when we click OK. It gives you the cache will be recreated, which is fine and we are all set. So that is setting up the testing server and the actual local information, the red folder inside of Dreamweaver specifically and then let's open up the test setup. We've used this page in the past. So go ahead and open that. As soon as you do, you'll see two new tabs added to your insert bar. CFML and CFform and we will be looking at a few of the features inside of those two tabs. We looked at those in the basic movie as well, so if you saw that movie, you'll be somewhat familiar with what's inside of these two. So that is setting up your website and your testing server inside of Dreamweaver.
