Advanced Access Control Software / Installation
Subtitles of the Movie
This is Citrix Access Gateway Advanced Edition 4.5 and in this video we're going to discuss installing the Advanced Access Server. Now for the purposes of our lab I have several virtual machines running under Sun's Virtual Box, Virtualization Software. The machines really are kind of underpowered for what you would normally use for our production environment but they work pretty good for our lab. In this case you'll see I've got a pretty beefy processor but not nearly enough RAM to run this even as a lab machine per say. But again they work well enough for our purposes so we'll carry on. In my Virtual Machine I have mounted the ISO for the Advanced Access Control CD. So I'll just double click on this Advanced Access Control CD and here is the opening screen for the Access Gateway Install Process. The install is actually fairly straight forward, we'll go ahead and just click on Access Gateway Advanced Edition and we'll step through the install process here. Of course you have to agree to the License Agreement. We're asked which components to install, in this case we're going to install the Server, the Management Console and Access Management Console for both Licensing and Diagnostics. In a production environment obviously you would change the installation location to be somewhere other then drive C just for sanity sake; again since this is a lab we will leave it in the default install location. We'll hit Next. Now we see this screen simply because I don't have some of the components installed for all of the features for Access Gateway Advanced Edition. It's telling me if I want to be able to view Visio Documents in HTML Preview I have to Visio installed, which I don't have in this lab environment and also to provide web based e-mail for Microsoft Exchange for this system we have to have the Microsoft Exchange System Management Tools installed. Again since we don't have an Exchange Server we don't have those tools installed, so we'll just hit OK to tell it that we acknowledge that we don't have all these components installed and we have a Summary Screen here and we'll hit Next. It's really just a very straight forward basic Windows Install and if we time warp to the end we get the ubiquitous Set Up has completed successfully screen and it wants to know if we want to run the Server Configuration now. I'm going to uncheck this box for the time being, simply because we're going to cover the initial Server Configuration in another video elsewhere in the course. Now I'm going to click finish and I'm going to re-launch the Opening Menu for this so that I can install the Citrix License Server. Now it's not required to have a Citrix License Server installed on your Advanced Access Gateway. You could have a single Citrix License Server or a cluster of Citrix License Servers already installed on your network that provide licenses for all of your other Citrix products such as Presentation Server or Secure Gateway. But in our case we'll go ahead and install it locally simply because we don't have one on this network already. There are several schools of thought on how many Citrix License Servers you need to have and that whole argument is left as an exercise for the viewer to determine on their own. In this case again another very straight forward set up, we'll hit Next, we'll accept the Licensing Setup Agreement, we'll install it in the Default Folder. It wants to know whether we want to install the License Management Console and or the License Server. If you were installing this on a workstation for example you obviously would not install the License Server on the workstation. In our case we obviously wish to install both on this server, so we'll hit Next. It wants to know where you want to store the License Files. This is simply so you can store the License Files outside of the Program Directory if you wish for ease of back up or if you have a central repository you can store all of your license files there. You can put this on a Network Share if you like, although I don't really recommend that, because that is another point of failure in this whole Licensing Chain. This case we'll leave it in the default location which is C Program File Citrix Licensing My Files and we'll hit Next. The Citrix License Management Console is a web based Administration Console and you have two options for what web server you'll use. In our case since we have a IIS Server we'll choose Microsoft IIS and since no one is actually using it, we'll say its OK to restart once the install is completed. Ready to Install? We'll hit Next and we time warp to the end where we're finished. No we have a fully set up infrastructure of the Access Gateway Installed and in other videos in this course we will set up the Licensing Console and the Advanced Access Server. But for now this concludes our discussion of Installation for the Advanced Access Server.
