I would say pretty much most of the time that you assemble a project within Camtasia, you'll use the Timeline View and as you know, this is the Timeline View here. We've seen it before and we've also seen how easy it is to assemble a project simply by left-clicking and dragging onto the Timeline like this, with this CAMREC recording. Let me just use the Zoom Button to zoom out and I'll use the Navigation Button to take me to the end of this first clip. Additionally, we've also seen how we can add to the project, by right-clicking on another file, this time we'll use this AVI file and we'll choose Add to Timeline. And therefore by using either method, we can build up a simple project with our clips assembled Video Track 1 of our Timeline. Notice now we have our project start with just the video of the CAMREC file, now audio was recorded at the point of screen recording for this particular CAMREC file. However, with our second clip, we've added an AVI file, that does contain an audio soundtrack embedded into it's duration and as we can see, the audio shows up directly below it on Audio Track 1. In actual fact, this is one of the tutorials from this course, that you've watched so far and if we want to move our clips around and change their order, we can do by left-clicking on this second clip for example and then simply dragging to the beginning of the Timeline and then now, their time position gets reversed with this clip now at the start. And the other clip now coming second, let me do it again, I'll left-click and drag to here to reverse their order once more. Now I'm sure you'll agree, it couldn't get any easier than that or any more simple and you'd think it couldn't get any easier, that said, we can assemble a projects order using a different method. And that's by using what's known as the Storyboard View and to get at the Storyboard View, simply involves going up to View and then rolling down to the option there, with the shortcut Control plus G, Storyboard. Notice the shortcut for Timeline, the view we're on at the moment, is Control plus T. Anyway, I will select Storyboard, now I'd suggest this Storyboard View is primarily used to easily add Transitions between clips on the Timeline and there'll be more on Transitions later in this course but you can move the position of your clips. For example, if I left-click on this Thumbnail View here and then drag to the right to this empty container here, then my clips get their order reversed. I'll do it again, I'll left-click and drag to here this time and they're reversed once more. Now whilst we're here, notice there's no audio track on display, here we only see a thumbnail of our clips. That's not to say the audio wouldn't play if we were to play this back, notice the second clip of a tutorial that we've watched already has got audio embedded. Now we know this already because we've watched this tutorial. But if we want to check, then a quick way of doing this is to come up to the Main Area up here and select your file, right-click it and then choose Properties at the bottom. And then instantly this Dialog opens, displaying Properties for audio and video for this particular clip and there I can see the audio attributes. Right, I'll click on OK to close that. However, by contrast if I right-click on the CAMREC clip and choose Properties, well we note, that it has properties for video, but as it states, no audio in the audio format area. Okay. Right I'll click on the OK Button once more to close that and if we want to hear it, just to prove it, well we can see that we are here on our Timeline and if I click the Play Button, you'll hear the narration for this tutorial that we watched earlier on. Here goes. Let me go back to the playlist because now what I want to do, is I want to save this project and I want to preview it just to make sure. Okay, proof if proof was needed that AVI file has got audio embedded. But if I go to right to the start by clicking the Navigation Button, then when I hit Play now, well the only audio we hear is mine for this narration as I'm talking to you at the moment and that's because the CAMREC file, the screen recording only recorded the screen. We didn't record any audio at that time. Right let's go back to the Timeline View by clicking View and then going to Timeline. Okay, so that's a quick run through the differences between the Storyboard and the Timeline Views. Primarily you will be using the Timeline View, more than likely you'll only use the Storyboard View like myself when you want to add Transitions to the clips that you assembled when you were working within the Timeline. We've also seen how easy it is to check properties for our particular clips.
