So far in this course, we've seen how easy it is to bring a photograph or a still image of some sort into our Camtasia project. You'll remember in the previous tutorial or two how I used this VTC.JPEG as a still image to begin our pretend project on the program Form Builder. Well that's pretty easy to do. In this tutorial, I want to show you how we save a single frame from a screen recording and then take it into an image editing program such as Photoshop or in our case, we're going to use Snagit 10 and then within Snagit 10, we'll adjust this single frame and then reimport it back into our project. So as I say, here is our VTC.JPEG and we can it situated as the first part of our project down here on our Timeline. As a consequence, the Preview Area over here at the top right, displays this still image. Now when I move the CTI on the Timeline further along so that it's situated above our screen recording, then of course in our Preview Window up here, this is what we see. We see this particular frame, because we're not playing it back at the moment, we see this particular frame of our screen recording of the program Form Builder. Of course, we could place our CTI anywhere over here for example and again looking up at our Preview Area, then of course the CTI position reflects up here. Okay, so imagine where my CTI is at the moment on our screen recording, that I want that particular frame to be saved as a still image. Well it's easy enough to do, come up to the File Menu and then roll down to where it says, Produce Special, fly-out to the right and then hit Export Frame As. Notice the shortcut there, ordinarily I would give this a new name, rather than the time position that's automatically given to this file name but just for this example, I'll leave it as it is and I'll hit Save. Right, that particular frame has now been saved, it's not part of our project yet, I've not imported it, we'll do that in a moment. Now just so that I don't forget where my CTI is and as a consequence where this single frame was taken from, I'm going to come down here to the Split Tool, clicking on there, now splits my screen recording. So that when I go over to Snagit and then do some edits, whatever I'm going to do with it and then come back into Camtasia, it's very easy for me to find where that particular frame was taken from. Okay, so let me go over to Snagit, now as I alluded to a few moments ago, you could use any image editing program to make some changes, but seeing as this course is on Camtasia and Snagit, that's the program I'm going to use. I've already navigated to the folder that I saved my single frame in, it's this one here and inside this particular folder, then you'll see my VTC JPEG, the one that we used right at the beginning of our Camtasia project and now next to it, within the same folder, here is that single frame that we extracted and saved. So I'll double-click it to open it in the Snagit Editor and so that I can see more of it, I'll just click on here to remove my navigation. Now dependent on what size you've got Snagit open at, you might need to use the Scroll Bar here. Let me take it back up again, now what I want to do is, I want to add an arrow on this single frame, pointing from where it says Title over to the right to indicate where I got this particular part of the program from. So easy enough, I'll select my arrow up here, I'll choose a style, this one will do and then left-click and drag over to the right and in fact, with this style, I'll just make a slight curve to manipulate it. So I'll just drag and zoom around, don't worry about this at the moment, we'll cover how we use the tools in Snagit in a later section. So that should do me, having that arrow stretching across there as a curve. So I'll click on the Save Button and then move back to Camtasia and now I need to import that single frame because we've only saved it earlier on, we didn't import it back into our project. So I'll click on Import Media and there it is. I'll select it and hit Open and of course now we see it added to our Image Category. If I want to see this in the Preview Window, prior to taking it to the Timeline, well simply double-click it and there you'll see that single image with the arrow that we've just added in Snagit. The Preview Window here because we double-clicked this single file now removes what is previewed on the Timeline, we are now previewing our file that we just double-clicked on. So to go back to our Timeline, I'll just click here, in fact I'll take it to that split point and remember this is the exact point where we took this single frame from. And because my CTI is at that exact point now, I can come up to the Image Category now, right-click on my single frame and then click on Add to Timeline and that automatically places it on my Timeline at the exact position we took the screen recording from. And if we look at our Preview Window, there you'll see it and so that you can see this in action, I'll just take the CTI to about there and hit the Play Button. Notice how it now shows that arrow for that still image and there it changed into the screen recording it was originally taken from. Okay, simple enough when we want to save and extract a frame from a screen recording and then use that image after we have edited it in some way. Right I'll leave it here and I'll see you in the next tutorial in a moment or two.
