Standards and Settings / Import and ReUse CAD Title Blocks pt. 5

Subtitles of the Movie

In this lesson, we will continue to define and place labels. Erase the imported text objects in the box immediately above the area you have been working. We will replace these text objects with Revit Building labels. Select the label tool. Then in the type selector, make the three-sixteenths tag the current type. Select the point to place this label. In the select parameter dialog, select approved by and click OK. Put the cursor over the rotation control and rotate the label until it is vertical. Now, select modify and move the label to it's correct location. Click label again and select a point to place the second label. In the select parameter dialog, click the add button and then the select button and in the shared parameters dialog, select the approved by date parameter and click OK three times to place the label. Again, rotate this new label to a vertical location. Then select modify and click and move the label lined up with the previous label. Now click on select parameter button from the options bar. Then in the value field, type in APR date for the placeholder for this new label. Now click on the label button again and click a point for the next label and then select the add button and then the select button and then the approved by two parameter. click OK once and then click OK twice and here in the select parameter dialog box, change the value to APR two. And click OK. And then rotate this label to a vertical position and select the modify button and move it into place, aligned with the other two. Repeat this process for the next label. Click the label button, select a location and click add, select and select approved by two date and click OK in the shared parameters and OK in the parameter properties and then change this placeholder to APR two date. And click OK. And then grab the rotation control and rotate the label to a vertical position and then click on the modify button and move it into place, aligned with the others. Now go ahead and add a half-inch tab label with the parameter sheet name to the right of the company name and address. The result will look something like this. Then edit it's horizontal alignment to center and it's vertical alignment to middle and then locate it appropriately. Then add three sixteenth inch tab labels for designed by, drafted by, scale and project issue date. The result will look something like this. All four of these are now labels. Next, add a half-inch tab label for the client name and the result of that would look something like this. Next to the right of that, add a quarter-inch tab label for the project name and a three-sixteenth inch tab label for the project address. And then you would change the horizontal alignment for all those labels to center and the vertical alignment to middle. When finished, zoom to fit and from the menu bar, select file, purge unused. In the purge unused dialog, click OK to purge the 11 number of items that are unused. Save the family and close the family file. Revit Building returns to the open project file. In the project browser, select sheets, right click and select new sheet. In the select title dialog, click load. Then browse to the location where you saved he sample title block. Select the new title block and click open. Then choose ok. The labels with shared parameters that we created earlier in the exercise will be represented by a question mark, but they are valid labels, oriented properly. If you choose shared parameters, you will see that the new parameters have come into the project. Close this file without saving it. This concludes this lesson.
