Standards and Settings / Standard Titleblock Study

Subtitles of the Movie

In this lesson, we will study Revit Building's standard title blocks. Let's take a look at a standard title block and edit parameters. Open Revit Building to a new default project. It will have no sheets defined. Select sheets in the project browser and right click and pick new sheet. In the select a title block dialog box, pick the load button. In the open file browser dialog, make sure that the look and value is the imperial library folder and select title blocks. And click open. Pick each of the default title blocks in turn to study it's appearance in the preview window. 8 and a half x 11, 11x17, 17x22, 22x34, 30x42 and 34x44. Horizontals and vertical. Now select cancel to return to the previous dialog. In here pick OK to create a sheet with an E1 30x42 default title block. Revit Building will open the new sheet view. Let's study the default selections. Click on the new sheet title block to select it. On the options bar, pick the properties icon. In the sheet name field, the value parameter, enter site plan. Sheet number is A101. Sheet issue date. Under check by, enter a name that you'd like. Also fill in designed by, approved by and drawn by with appropriate names. When finished, click OK to close the element properties dialog. With the cursor on top of the lower right corner of the title block, roll your wheel mouse button to zoom in to the lower right corner of the title block. Note that only some, but not all of the information fields labels have updated. With the title block selected, meaning it's border line work turned red and it's labels blue, select settings from the menu bar and select project information. For the parameter issue date, enter a value. This could be your course completion date. For the project status, enter the value conceptual design. And then enter a client name. After that, click the edit button in the value field of project address. In the edit text dialog box, enter an address. When finished, pick ok. Back in the edit properties dialog, enter a value for a project name. And then enter a project number. When finished, click OK to close the project information dialog. Study the labels and the title block again. Be aware that you can edit the information in any label by selecting it. Pick the A101 sheet number label. And hold the cursor over it. The tool tip will show edit parameter. Select the label again and the data entry field will open. Change the sheet number from A101 to A1. Left click outside the entry field or hit enter and the label will update. Now, click the drop-down arrow next to the undo button on the Revit Building tool bar right below the menu bar. And scroll down the list of actions to sheets. Your undo list may differ slightly from the one shown here. Left click inside the undo drop-down list to accept the undo command. Revit Building will delete the title block and sheet view. In this lesson, you have examined the default selections and edited parameters in a standard title block. This concludes this lesson.
