Standards and Settings / Compare Template Contents

Subtitles of the Movie

In this lesson, we will compare specific content in different templates. From the window menu, select close hidden windows. This will close all the views that you have open except the one in the current file and the last one viewed in the other open files. Keeping open windows to a minimum will free up display system resources. In the project browser, click the plus symbol next to families, then profiles. This expands the list of predefined and named profile shapes available for sweeps and edges in commercial template. From the window menu, pick the available view from project one. This is the default template. When that file is loaded, click the plus symbol next to families, profiles and view the list of profile shapes in this template. Then from the window menu, pick the available view from project two. When that file loads, click the plus symbol next to families, profiles. This is the residential template. Then from the window menu, select the available view for project three, the construction template. Then when that loads, click the plus symbol for families, profiles and view the list of profile shapes in this template. Now let's examine view properties in a template. From the window menu, pick the available view for project two, the residential template. When that file loads, double click first floor under floor plans. Then on the basics tab, click wall. Then in the type selector, click down arrow and select basic wall exterior wood shingle on wood side. Do not change the height or location line properties, but in the sketch lines area of the options bar, pick the rectangle button so that by picking two points in the view window, you can draw four connected walls with their exterior sides correctly situated. Pick a point to the upper left of the view window and pull the cursor down and to the right to start defining the new walls. Use the temporary dimension that appear to make the new walls approximately 30 feet wide by 25 foot long. The actual wall lengths do not matter. With the wall tool still active, change the wall type to basic wall interior 4 half partition. Change the sketch line type to line and make sure that the chain option is checked. This allows you to sketch new walls continuously until you exit the command. Draw a wall from the midpoint of the left wall horizontal to the middle of the interior space approximately. Then up to the middle of the upper wall approximately. The actual wall dimensions or locations do not matter. From the design bar, select component. From the drop-down list, select outlet duplex. And then zoom in a little bit and place an outlet at the approximate midpoint of the right siding interior wall facing left into the smaller room we have just created with the new walls. A Revit Building warning window will appear to let you know that the settings for this floor plan view will not let you see the new electrical fixture. Go ahead and close that warning. Double click first floor electrical to open that view. You will now see the electrical outlet placed correctly. Note the light appearance of the walls. Right click in the view window and select view properties. Then select the edit button in the visibility row. Note that for all component categories, except curtain walls and electrical components and electrical fixtures, the half-tone graphic override has been checked. This accounts for the dim appearance of the walls in this view. Click cancel here and then click cancel again to close those dialog boxes. Select first floor once under floor plans and then right click and select properties. This allows you to view the properties of the first floor plan without having to open the view itself. Select the edit button in the visibility row. Note that no component categories have the half-tone graphic override checked. Also, the visibility for the electrical fixtures is not checked. Click cancel twice again to close the dialog boxes. In this lesson, you have learned how to compare specific content in different templates. This concludes this lesson.
