In this lesson we'll create an Interior Rendering using Artificial Lighting. We will group lights to make it easier to switch them on and off as required. We'll also make adjustments to control the output of the rendered image before rendering so the resulting image is the correct size and resolution. From the Menu Browser select Open and open the file RAC RIV 03-Night Render. First, we'll duplicate the view. In the Project Browser under 3D Views, right-click 03-Floor Public, Day Rendering, and click Duplicate, Duplicate. Then, right-click the Copy of View and select Rename and change the name of this view to 03-Floor Public, Night Rendering and click OK. Now, let's define some artificial lighting. On the View Control Bar show the Render dialog, then in the Rendering dialog under Lighting for Scheme select Artificial Only, and then click Artificial Lights. In the Artificial Lights dialog under Group Options click New. In the New Light dialog type Pendant Lights and click OK. Then, under Ungrouped Lights select the first Pendant Light then scroll down and while holding the Shift select the last Pendant Light, then click Move to Group. In the Light Groups dialog select Pendant Lights and click OK, then click New again, type Scones Lights and click OK, then select all the Scones Lights using the Shift key and click Move to Group. Then, select Scones Lights under Light Groups and click OK. Then select the remaining Pendant Lights and mov them to the Pendant Lights Group, then create another Group for the Table Lamps. Then, move all the Table Lamps into that group, then click OK. Next we'll change the Output size. In the Rendering dialog under Output Settings for Resolution select Printer. Notice that the Width is at 8 and three-eighths of an inch and for this lesson we want it to be 8 inches wide. We're going to Resize the image. Close the Render dialog and select the Crop Region of the View, then from the Crop Panel select Size Crop, then select Scale, Locked Proportions, and for Width type 4, and click OK. Then Show Other Rendering dialog and click Render. The rendering process may take about 5 or more minutes to complete. When the rendering is completed we'll adjust the exposure. Back in the Rendering dialog click Adjust Exposure and change the Exposure Value to 6.5 and click OK. Then close the Rendering dialog and close the file as that concludes this lesson.
