In this lesson we'll import a dwg format drawing file and use it as a Detail in a Drafting View created from a Callout. From the Menu Browser select Open and open the file RAC D 03-Import Detail, then in the Project Browser under Drafting Views double-click Callout of Detail at Parapet. We will import the dwg format drawing file into this blank drafting view. A drafting view could also contain only drafting objects created in Revit Architecture. You would use Drafting Views to create details or drawings that have no connection to the project model. Click the Insert tab and from the Import Panel click Import CAD. Then browse to Training Files, Common, and select Roofing Detail once, then for Colors select Black and White and click OK. The drawing is imported quickly but it does not display until you zoom to fit, so right-click and select Zoom To Fit. Next we'll modify the Line Weight. Click the Manage tab and from the Project Settings Panel click the Settings drop-down and select Object Styles. You can assign Line Weights per Layer in the imported dwg file. In the Object Styles dialog click the Imported Objects tab. Under Category for Medium change the Line Weight Projection to 3, then for the Wide Category, Line Weight Projection, select 5, then click OK. Next, to change the View Scale, on the View Control Bar for Scale select 3 inch equals 1 foot, then to Rename the View in the Project Browser right-click Callout of Detail At Parapet and select Rename, then in the Rename View dialog type: Roofing Termination Detail and click OK. Next, we'll place the view on a sheet. In the Project Browser scroll down to Sheets, expand the Sheets Category, and double-click A2 Sections, then click and drag the Roofing Termination Detail from the Project Browser to the Sheet and click to place it. Then, clear the selection and zoom in to see the Roofing Termination Detail and the Callout from the Detail At Parapet. Then close the file as that concludes this lesson.
