In this lesson we'll create a Room Finish Schedule. You can also use a Room Schedule as a Project Program and create Rooms before they are placed in the project. Then we'll add the Rooms to the Schedule and place them in the project. Finally, we'll use a Filter to modify the Room Schedule so it only includes Rooms from the 02 Floor Level. From the Menu Browser select Open and open the file RAC DS 03-Finish Schedule. Then click the View tab and from the Create Panel click the Schedules drop-down and select Schedule Quantities. In the new Schedule dialog under Category select Rooms and for Name type Room Finish Schedule and click OK. Then in the Schedule Properties dialog on the Fields tab under Available Fields select Number and click Add. Then select Name and click Add, then add Base Finish, Floor Finish, Wall Finish, Ceiling Finish, Area, Comments, and Level. Then click the Sorting tab and for Sort by select Number. Then click the Formatting tab and under Fields select Base Finish and under Heading delete the word Finish. Then remove the word Finish from the other fields as well. Later the Finished Fields will be grouped in the Schedule under the heading Finishes. Then click OK to close the Schedule Properties dialog and the Room Finish Schedule displays. Now to group the Finish Fields click and drag the cursor to select the Base, Floor, Wall, and Ceiling Headers. Then on the Schedule Panel for Headers click Group, then click inside the new Header and type Finishes. Next let's add Room to the Schedule. On the Schedule Panel for Rows click New. This creates a Room listed as Not Placed. This is because the rooms are not yet placed in the project. Add three more Rooms. Next, Rename the rooms: Lounge, Copy or Print, Drafting, and Computer Lab. Next, to place the new Rooms double-click 02-Floor, then zoom in to the longer wing of the building and click the Home tab and from the Room and Area Panel click the Room drop-down and then click Room. Then on the Options Bar make sure a Tag on Placement is selected and for Room select Lounge, then click inside the room with the door number 206. Select Modify then select the Room Tag and click the Room Number Value and type 206, then place the other three rooms. The next room will be Copy-Print, then Drafting, then Computer Lab. Click Modify and renumber each tag to match the door number. When finished open the Room Finish Schedule and notice that now the information displays Rooms 206 to 209. We will now create a Filter for the Schedule. Right-click the Room Finish Schedule and select Properties, then for Filter click Edit and for Filter by select Level and select 02 Floor. Then click the Formatting tab and select Level and on the right select Hidden Field. Click OK and for View Name type 02-Floor Room Finish Schedule and click OK. Now the Room Schedule only shows rooms from the second floor. Close the file as that concludes this lesson.
