Creating a Site / Parking Spaces
Subtitles of the Movie
In this lesson you add parking spaces to the Site Surface. You also create a Schedule to display the total number of parking spaces. Click the Menu Browser and then click Open. Then open the file RAC CS 05-Parking. Now let's add parking components. In the Project Browser under Floor Plans double-click Site. Then, zoom into the parking area. Then click the Massing and Site tab and from the Model Site Panel select Parking Component, then on the Element Panel in the Type Selector under Parking Space select 9 feet by 18 feet 90 degrees. Because Revit Architecture Subregions do not support snapping you use the dwg line work to place the parking components. Align the parking space in the upper right corner of the parking area and click to place a Parking Component, then place the Spacebar twice to rotate the Parking Space Component and place another parking space in the lower left corner of the parking lot then click Modify. Now we will Array the parking spaces. First, select the parking space in the upper right corner. When the Modify Parking tab displays from the Modify Panel select the Array Tool, then click the upper right corner of the parking space to specify the endpoint of the Array, then move the cursor to the left and type 9 feet and press Enter. This value defines the distance to the placement of the second object in the Array. Then type 16 and press Enter to define the Array Count number of objects in the Array and press Escape. Now, using the same method define an Array for the parking spaces on the other side of the parking lot. For the Endpoint use the lower left corner, for the distance between spaces use 9 feet and for the Array Count use 10, and when finished press Escape. Now we will look at how to modify the Array. Notice that a count of 10 parking spaces was one too few. You can add one space to the Array. To add an Instance to the Array you select one of the objects in the Array and change the Array Count Value. Select a parking space in the Array and type 11 for the Array Count and press Escape. Now we will create a Schedule to count parking spaces. Click the View tab and on the Create Panel click the Schedules drop-down and select Schedule Quantities. In the New Schedule dialog select Parking and click OK. In the Schedule Properties dialog for available fields select Count and click Add, then click OK. The Schedule itemizes each instance of the parking objects however you would like the Schedule to display a total instead. In the Project Browser expand Schedule Quantities, right-click Parking Schedule, and click Properties. In the Instance Properties dialog for Sorting and Grouping click Edit. On the Sorting and Grouping tab of the Schedule Properties dialog clear Itemize every instance, and click OK. In the Instance Properties dialog for Formatting click Edit. On the Formatting tab of the Schedule Properties dialog under Heading type Number of spaces and click OK twice. In the Schedule click and drag the right border to expand the view. Next we will turn off the Visibility of the dwg. In the Project Browser open the Site Plan View, then Zoom to Fit the Site Plan in the View. In the Project Browser right-click Site and click Properties. In the Instance Properties dialog for Visibility or Graphics Overrides click Edit. Click the Import Categories tab and clear Site Plan.dwg and click OK twice. Then, close the file without saving it as that concludes this lesson.
