In this lesson we will place a guardrail on the balcony at the pavilion overlook. You can place railings independently of the stair. From the Menu Browser, select Open. Then open the file Racsr 04 Place Railing. Now let's create a railing. In the Project Browser under Floor Plans, double click 02 Floor. Then zoom into the balcony near the center of the building. Then from the Home Tab's Circulation Panel, click Railing. Then when the Create Railing Path Tab is placed, click the Element Drop-Down and select Railing Properties. Then in the Instance Properties Dialog, for Type, select Guardrail Type and click OK. Then from the Draw Panel, click Pick Lines. Then on the Options Bar for Offset, type four inches. We are going to use the floor slab as the basis for the geometry of the railing. Then click the three balcony floor edges so that the offset is to the inside. Then on the Railing Panel, click Finish Railing. Then clear the selection by either clicking in an open spot in the drawing area or pressing Escape. Now let's create a 3D view. First, click the View Tab and then from the Create Panel, click the 3D View Drop-Down and select Camera. We're going to place a camera to see the railing that has been placed in a 3D view. Click to place the eye position and then click to place the view target as shown. Because it is difficult to click the exact same camera points, your view might look different from the one shown here. You can adjust the view by zooming and panning and by dragging the blue dots. When you have finished adjusting the view and reviewing the railing in a 3D view, you can clear the selection either by clicking in an open area or pressing Escape and then close the file as that concludes this lesson.
